Yea, I am beat. Didn't get home from that bartending thing till about 2:30, which would be 3:30 after the time change. Harry showed up just as the motor was seating, so it worked out ok. He actually tried to help, which was surprising. I just needed to see some movement on the install this...- Dono

I'm looking for safe ideas in where to mount mt fuel pressure regulator. Real estate is hard to find. I'm not too keen on mounting it to the brake ABS assembly, but it might actually be a good spot. Thoughts?- Dono

And, thanks to the wonders of time lapse photography: I struggled getting the motor to seat. I called a friend. Tim said...Put the trans in neutral. BOOM, dropped right in. Thanks Tim! I haven't tightened anything up yet, but the trans to engine and engine mount bolts are in! Next...- Dono

Torque Monster Headers Install Write-up and Review
Yes. TorqueMonsterHeaders.com Just order off the web site. Id think seriously about asking for the one piece drivers side header though. More work, kinda. I might have looked at it a month or two ago, but once I get the motor I just want to install it. I'm going to set shift points before 6000 rpm (1st gear probably sooner since it takes time to actually shift once its commanded) and rev limiter at about 6400 anyway, so the motor isn't going to...- Dono

Here's a link to what was found in the oil filter upon inspection. Highest end oil Filter available You will notice right away that there is an absence of copper. Highest end oil Filter available
Here's what the oil filter looks like after a break in dyno run on a new motor. I'm really pleased with this filter. Inside of filter housing The magnet doing its job. That glob is the magnet catching break in stuff from the rings and cylinders This is the filter its self. It just needs...- Dono

I'm hoping I don't start breaking a bunch of other stuff, but who knows? I think I have a 4lb spring in the boost controller, so I'll back off of the controller and just run on spring. If I remember correctly, that's about 3lbs boost at the manifold (boost controller is at the back of the...- Dono

Here's the numbers. Look at the monster torque this thing makes. This is at 30 degree's timing. I think the issue has gone away where my old motor could use next to no timing before detonating. I think this was due to head chamber design, and dish pistons. Valves are un-shrouded as much as...- Dono

The Dyno – Sandale Fabrications Dyno day today! I'm pretty excited that Tim managed to get the time off to come along. I hope you can make it Tim, but I know it doesn't look good. Something about having a steady income is most important. I also don't want to loose sight of the main reason for the engine dyno, and that is to make sure the motor works before installing it. The hp/torque is really secondary (but...- Dono

Dyno day is set for Thursday after work for me, at 5:30. Since we can't dyno with my intake and injectors, here's the carb and intake that will be used. Its a dual plane intake, so that should hopefully somewhat resemble my Trick Flow Track Heat intake on the dyno. The numbers will be...- Dono

Figured I might as well update this as I go. Today was a warm day (The only warm one we will get for a few weeks) so I figured it might not be too bad on the floor of the garage by the garage door. I was right, it was ok. It didn't do without the standard swearing though, so at least the...- Dono

I'm going to tip the scale at 500 peak hp. Might be wishful thinking, but why not? I spent big money on that filter, and it will be worth every penny when I'm checking it for copper bearing material, Don't even ask how sad I'll be if I find some after the motor is installed in my truck. My...- Dono

Nope. I think he wants to run it on his other simulator overnight, and look for issues. Then I'm guessing he will be calling Sandale and looking for a day to beat the heck out of it on the dyno. Under the bumper isn't easy, as there's so much stuff there already (Intercooler, etc.) Also, I just don't want the risk of more lines (I have so many already) running around that have even more potential of leaks. Ok, this motor is all but together. A few issues that came up. 1. I had over torqued a couple of the poly locks on the rocker studs, so all poly locks were replaced. 2. the oil filter to block 90 degree adapter needed new O rings that are not available anymore. Dimas found them locally...- Dono

Wen't black on the motor. Was it the morbid, foul mood I was in, or was it the paint on hand? Dimas expects to be on the engine dyno in two to three weeks. He's expecting around 500 peak hp on the engine dyno without turbo. This is with carb also. As I said to Dimas, I am really interested...- Dono

These are flat top pistons with twisted wedge valve reliefs The engine builder measured 8.8 when he cc'd them. I'd say that's about right, as my other pistons had a 20cc dish, and I can tell the dish was way more volume than these valve reliefs in the new pistons.- Dono

Yeah, I couldn't seem to tune your idle, so I'm hoping i'll be able to sort it out myself. Dimas has a reputation of personal pride to keep up on a dyno session. Their is no program, so they are done by hand. With the flat top pistons (with valve reliefs), he needed to get the cc's of the heads higher to get the compression ratio down(the heads were 58cc heads) to around 10:1. He was actually really happy about the extra material as he had a blank...- Dono

Notice how the heads were bolted on the block, and a scribe was used to draw a circle around each cylinder on the heads. Then, the valves were unshrouded right to the cylinder wall. This helps fill the cylinders that much more. Also, hopefully you can see where in between the valves was laid...- Dono
