My rear is whining...no not that REAR!

another thing for my wife to not be happy about with it then, that is, if we have to drop even more money into. Just a few weeks ago we had to replace the key cylinder, even though there is a TSB/Recall on it. Total cost was almost $400. They said if it did it again we'd have to replace the...

My rear is whining...no not that REAR!

The wifes diff is starting to whine at highway speeds. 2002 2WD 4.0L, automatic. around town it's barely noticeable, but on the highway it really starts screaming! I haven't had the chance to check the fluid level but will this weekend. Am I safe to assume it's a common issue with these? If...

Adding power seats to 2002 Explorer?

i just priced a set of leather seats with power at a salvage yard, $300 for front buckets and the rears. I mean the entire set, $300. I'm probably going to take a chance. running power and ground if i have to

    03 X Stereo build Pics

wow, I'm speechless. well, no not really but still, that's a TON of freaking work. I've installed stereos professionally in my past and I must say I never had an undertaking quite that large EVER... lol. I'm simple these days. My days of what you accomplished are over for sure. Nice job man...

Adding power seats to 2002 Explorer?

hey guys thanks for all of that. I found a nice set of leather's front and rear and only the driver's side has the power switch so it might be easy enough to at least run a power tap just for the motor because I don't think these seats I'm looking at have heat anyway. Just a basic power seat...

    Rough Idle

When I had my wife's 2002 XLS serviced, the transmission service I mean, I had them check things out and they reprogrammed the ECM (for $40) due to a TSB on rough idle, which her's had the symptoms of. I can't say it 100% fixed it, but it's a LOT better at idle now than it was. I think she's due...

Adding power seats to 2002 Explorer?

Purchased a 2002 XLS for my wife and she's not happy with the manual seats. My question is, who has upgraded to the full-power seats and is it a direct bolt-in and plug-n-play? I haven't taken the time to see if there's a power plug under the carpet yet so I wanted to ask first. Thanks in advance.

    Eibach Lowering Springs

they only thing I fear is finding the correct length and dampened shock. Possibly Bilstein Sports? My suspension friend recommended KYB's or Tokico's with the Eibachs but I'm not sure if it's the route I need to go since it's the woman's car

    Wanted to pass this along

sorry to change the subject on the thread Glacier, but do you ever do any running about up around Foresthill or Cool? I used to live up there is why I ask. I'd move back to the Sacto area in a heartbeat if I could!

I appreciate guys like you most certainly. I was a service advisor for a while and I can tell you first hand you guys aren't respected or appreciated enough.

    Wanted to pass this along

this thing has 170K miles on it, so really the last thing I wanted to do was spend ANY money on it. The wife loves it and she convinced me to make needed repairs and improvements on it. In the last 3 months: 1) new headliner 2) tranny clean, flush and condition 3) air filter 4) radiator...

please help my get my 4wd back...

I guess it is something you could do if you were familiar with taking those sort of things apart. If there is a write-up on this site then I'd say it's feasible. The hardest time I had was sliding the motor back into the housing and getting everything seated right to do so. I think if I were to...

please help my get my 4wd back...

I had the same problem once before on a 92. I removed the motor from the transfer case, the one that switches 4wd, 4wd high and so on. I took the motor apart, cleaned the inside of it with an eraser, then sprayed electronic cleaner inside and out. Put it back together, reinstalled it and VOILA...

    Wanted to pass this along

took the Exploder to a mechanic today, one that I trust, and it KILLED ME to do this since I try to do most of my work. But I had a problem I couldn't diagnose. Vaccum lines keep popping off the wife's Exploder. Well, scratched my head for ever. Well, luckily, the mechanic had a 94 explorer...

    What A/C pressures?

each truck operates differently on the pressures, and until you evacuate the system completely and draw vaccum on it, it's hard to determine a leak. get some dye and inject it to help find leaks. you'll definitely want to evacuate the system before a recharge.

    Eibach Lowering Springs

anyone here tried them? If so, what shock did you use? The wife has a 94 Explorer XLT 4-door that I'm trying to improve for her since the "Honey we need to get you a BIGGER SUV" talk didn't work. I'm tired of the crappy ride this thing has. The shocks are 2 years old with 15K miles and they're...

Superlift SOA done, now for the front

No offense to most who've used 4wheel parts for installs..but here in OKC, they suck! The guys that work there are idiots and assholes. The one I used when I lived in Sacramento were very knowledgable and friendly. I do 90% of my own work. I hate cutting a check to someone so they can use my...

    AIR CON

Not sure about the newer models such as yours, but there was a TSB issued for the older condensors...can't flush them either. You might have a slightly clogged system but be sure to pull vaccum on it and replace what needs replacing before you re-fill it. One more side note... "HOT SHOT R-12" is...

Superlift SOA done, now for the front

What kinda cash you guys talking on this SOA conversion? I thought about pissing the wife off and lifting her 2wd explorer XLT. That and I'm thinking of lifting my 94 2 door XL for the next storm chasing season. Superlift has the complete kit? I'm wanting 2.5 lift at the very least...really...

    '93 vibration, visited again

I would suggest getting the hubs re-checked. I had my front rotors replaced, wheel bearings repacked, and a tons of front end work...2 weeks later, vibration about 65 mph on the highway, shakes the crap outta me. I'm taking it in for an alignment in an hour. I'm betting after I had all that work...

HELP! Check engine light comes on!

OH I forgot Took the exploder for a drive after replacing the O2 sensors...no CEL after putting over 10 miles of highway and city driving. Ran a lot better and I'm hoping this improves the crappy 9 mpg I was getting before. Thanks to those of you who helped.
