    autotrans problem

Not long ago (couple months) I changed the trans. fluid pan gasket and flushed out about a gallon of fluid. Now, when the engine is cold, when I reverse out of the garage, a parking space, whatever, stop and put it into drive, it will shift out of reverse and sit in neutral. I have to run thru...

Whats the normal sound from the fuel pump?

First sorry for all the posts from me. In going over my newly purchased 91' xlt and have been uncovering the occasional issue that needs addressed. Well just a few days ago i noticed the whine of the fuel pump. It sounds like a healthy motor, a constant, even whine. Not sure if thats normal and...

overfilled autotrans, easy way to un-overfill it?

yes.. checked it while hot, at idle, in park as per dip stick's instructions. good idea with the cooler line. I didn't think of that. I didn't flush the system when i changed the gasket so I didn't have that apart. Maybe I'll run a couple quarts through while I'm at it to clean it out a bit more.

My fluid level is...

Solution was as follows... the electronic shift module at the rear of my explorer had a connector (8 wire) that was broke in three...

    Electronic shift control module location?

I think I found it so never mind. I thought it was tucked away behind trim paneling or something. It is on the driver's side, rear fender in the compartment where the tire jack and rear window washer pump is. It6 has a white test button on the bottom of it. so FYI and please let me know if i'm...

    Electronic shift control module location?

I was reading about a test one can have the electronic control unit perform on itself. I want to try this as the shift motor rebuild didn't help me... but where is the control unit? I have a 1992 explorer xlt
