    Starts missing at 3200 RPM

2001 Explorer Sport SOHC 4.0 Ok... I just replaced the PVC vacuum line that wraps around the left side (passenger) of the engine. It's the one with the rubber 90's on each end and the PVC tube connects at the front of the upper manifold on one end and the rear drivers side on the other...

Some have it - Some don't!

THANK YOU 03ExplorerSpt !! That is EXACTLY right! All of the options that you listed are on the Expo with the hooks, along with several others. Neither are 4WD. By the way, for those who asked... The pretty gold one without sunroof, leather or fog lights is for the girl (with much lower...

Some have it - Some don't!

I've recently purchased 2 - 2001 Explorer Sports for my kids. One is more "dressed" than the other. The "dressed" one has factory front tow hooks coming out through the bumper. The other one doesn't. I'm just wondering why and what's the difference? I know that there's an expert out there...

    Hitch not centered...

Well, I adjusted the bumper to match the hitch. The bumper was actually pretty well centered. Now, it's kinda off to the left just a bit, but it's kinda hard to see. Trying not to be too **** about this, but you know how it is when something that should be this way, comes out that way. Thanks...

    Hitch not centered...

I installed a hitch (receiver) on my 2000 yesterday. It took much longer than I thought it would because I couldn't get it dead center. It is about 1/2 inch off to the left (driver side), and is pretty noticable with the ball plug out (and missing) of the bumper. The old ball hole in the bumper...

How to: Clean the MAF Sensor

Denatured Alcohol was not at any drug store. But, I found one Pharmacist that was interested in finding it. At the local Wally World we found a quart can of it in the paint department! Go figure. I cleaned the MAF, and reconnected the battery after 10+ minutes. MAN, did it make a difference...

    Seat Belt Slide Rail Replacement

2000 model - On the passenger front seat, inner. There is a slide rail that the seat belt female part slides on. I have power seats. The rail is slightly bent, so it hangs up when sliding forward. What is the best method to replace this rail? Or, what was your method, best or not! Thanks...

    Highway tires - Mastercraft/Cooper??

I'm not an off-roader, but I am on my 4th Explorer. These things are great, eh? Anyway... has anyone tried Mastercraft or Cooper (same mfg). I have Michelins now, but just ain't in the mood to spend the extra money right now. Was really considering Continental, but have read several posts...

Time to replace radio in 2000?

That's what I'm thinking, too. But, I keep seeing these post about better aftermarket units cheaper. Cheaper than EBAY?

Time to replace radio in 2000?

I have a 2000 Explorer. As you may have read in an earlier post, my AM is on the blink. I would like to know if there is a replacement that is "kinda" factory looking. Maybe I'm old fashioned about that. What the heck. Tell me which radio would do me a really good job and if there would be a...

AM on the blink - Help!

AM on the blink - 2000 Explorer - Help! I'm an AM radio listener. Gotta have my news/talk radio. But, lately I've been having trouble with the AM. It intermitantly comes and goes, usually when I hit a bump in the road. It never goes out completely, but gets mighty weak. Is there a quick fix...

    2000 Explorer bad idle

To reply to the question about the "recall". I kinda mis-spoke. It isn't quite a recall, however there are some SOHC's that are not included apparently. Here is the text of a post I read on this site, and then the url to it. "Ford Certified Technician Just a bit of advice, I work on more sohc...

    2000 Explorer bad idle

Believe I've got it nailed down. It must be the timing chain tensioner. Gonna have it replaced Tuesday under the recall. That will replicate the MAF problem, and is probably why it was changed (just prior to me buying this vehicle). I'll try and respond by Thursday as to the outcome. jhlankford

    2000 Explorer bad idle

The warranty is up. The air filter is clean. A dirty MAF? Can they be cleaned? MAF replaced about a month ago. Now what?

    2000 Explorer bad idle

My 2000 Explorer at start up wants to idle down so low it almost quits. Then, the computer kicks in, increases the idle speed to save it from cutting off, then it idles back down and starts the whole thing over again. Any ideas?? 3 time Explorer owner. JL
