    Front axle/parking brake interaction???

    Hello! '99 Explorer XLT 4wd Have read much on here that "if you remove the front axle ... your parking brake will not work". Is the parking brake not just a steel cable applying pressure to the rear disk brake pads? I dont see the connection here to the front axel.
