    1997 Explorer has no air

I hate to sound stupid, but I don't even know where the hell this thing is. and I would also hate to start ripping pieces of the dashboard out, trying to find the damn thing, and creating way more work than I need to. Do you know if there's any kind of diagram, or pictures anywhere that would...

    1997 Explorer has no air

Hey guys. I just bought my 3rd Ex in 4 years. My latest one is a 97, 111k miles. Its nothing to brag about, not as clean as my previous 2, and has all sorts of issues. The 1 that takes precedence, however, is the air situation. It is ridiculously hot, averaging around 95 degrees, so getting...

    Question about brake pad clips

Thanks guys. I wish there was an image. As soon as I take the caliper off the stupid thing falls out before I have a chance to see where it went. Again, thanks for the help though.

    Question about brake pad clips

Good afternoon guys. I have a question about the clip that goes on the back brake pad. I'm changing my pads and calipers today, and for the life of me I can't figure out how to get the damn clip to go back on the inside brake pad. As I'm sure you know, the inside pad slides in to the rotor...

94 Ex Transmission/ Vacuum Modulator question

Yeah, I have no clue what you're talking about. :p: I am definitely willing to learn though. Might I impose on you for perhaps a link to a more explanatory page? Something that can give me a better idea on how to do that? This forum has some incredible resources, and I've benefitted from them...

94 Ex Transmission/ Vacuum Modulator question

Sorry, one other thing that might be worth mentioning. The car seems to shift perfectly well when I'm shifting it manually. It's smooth and quick and responsive, but when I have it in drive it shifts poorly during any kind of mild acceleration.

94 Ex Transmission/ Vacuum Modulator question

I don't think I'm losing any fluid. The mechanic today removed one of my lines from on top of the engine and there was suction there. I think my fluid level is ok too. I also notice no difference no matter what the temperature is. So basically, I think you're saying that the V/M is most...

94 Ex Transmission/ Vacuum Modulator question

Ok, this is the deal. I have an automatic transmission problem. 2 days ago I pulled my truck into my friend's driveway and everything was fine. An hour later, I pulled out, started moving forward, and the tranny wouldn't shift into 2nd. Instead, the rpm's went up to 3500-4000, and I had to...

    1994 Vehicle Speed Sensor

Thanks Mark. So basically, it sounds like you're saying that there really isn't a sensor that would affect the way the tranny shifts, right? A friend of mine mentioned something about an output speed sensor? that could be the culprit. Have you ever heard of anything like that?

    1994 Vehicle Speed Sensor

Thanks for the tips. The problem I've been having is that the car is shifting poorly. From a dead stop, I can accelerate fine, no slipping, but the car seems to have problems going to 2nd gear, then to 3rd. when Im at highway speeds, near 40 and above, there's no problem going from drive to...

    speed sensor install

I wish you would have told us where it was. I can't find the damn thing.

    1994 Vehicle Speed Sensor

I'm trying to replace the vehicle speed sensor on my 1994 Explorer, V6, 4wd. I have been told that it's half way down the transmission on the right hand (passenger) side. However, I've just spent 30 minutes digging around down there and I can't find the damn thing. Can anyone offer any...

    Need some opinions please.

Thanks or the input guys. All good things that I'll look into. On the Wires, I changed them one at a time, literally pull the wire off the plug, replace the plug, then pull the wire off and replace that, and onto the next one. I learned that lesson a long time ago on my '74 Pontiac Ventura. :)...

    Need some opinions please.

Sorry, one more thing. It's been going through oil lately. Sometimes I'll get the "check oil" light come on 2-3 weeks after an oil change, and the dip stick will read "add one quart". The last time this happened a couple weeks ago I threw in a qt of Lucas Oil. I don't know if that has any...

    Need some opinions please.

Hey guys. I have a 91 X, 104k miles, and lately it's been starting a bit rough. This happens especially in the morning, but also if it's been sitting for a little while after being warmed up normally and driven for a while. I can goose the gas, and for about 10 seconds or so it acts like it's...

91 Explorer Heater core hoses, doing it now.

I disconnected my heater core a month ago, and I'm replacing it today after an extensive flush. Unfortunately, I'm an idiot and I don't remember which hose went to which heater core nub. Does anyone know? I want to connect the system and fill it today, and I want to get it right. Basically...

    Hello to all, and thanks.

I have a 91 Explorer that I bought last November, with 63k miles at the time. Only 2 windows worked, paint was faded, but it started right up and it ALWAYS purrs like a kitten and starts right up. I use it for work (I'm a sales rep), and although mileage isn't the greatest (V6), it's got...
