That's good.im trying to think how I got past that. I've had that had before. So basically it runs rough at operation temp. With bad mpg. Right? Have you done any checking of the FPR? See if the vacuum line has gas in it. That can suck gas strait into the engine.

Alabama Cylinder Head is where I bought my complete heads for my 91 explorer. If you're good with tools. You can rip it down in a few hours and rebuild back in a good day. I did it in 6 hours going back, due to retorquing to specs.

FINALLY GOT IT TO PASS!!!! Parently there was too much carbon on the back of the butterfly plus the PCV valve was stuck, causing extra air. Passed with 56 HC > Limit 220 HC Thanks for everybody's input!!!

I did that on the first test. Still failed. I've been told about the alcohol thing. Using a gal of it to two gallons of gas. I have a guy I'm going to take it to in the morning that says he can get it to pass.

I haven't changed the air temp yet. I've checked it before and it seemed working. Haven't tried it at the computer. With two cans of seafoam, white smoking though a vacuum line. I still fail with high hc. Up to 400 hc this time. I can only fail one more time. Or move to another area or sale...

UPDATE Replaced the computer. Runs a lot better. Got the crazy mis gone. But the bad thing is it still failed Emissions again :/ HC this time was up to 320. What else can I do???? Nothing is working

I have an old set of tires on a IH Scout. Not shock sizing. The only numbers I can find on the tires are 11-15 So I guess that means a 15" rim and 11" wide!? Where would I found tires that wide within the tire numbering used today. Any clues? I know this is an IH on an explorer forum, but...

What about timing?? I know before I had this truck the bottom end was rebuilt and bored. I've been told the timing has been off maybe to cause a slight miss and hard start. What about the adjustment to be wrong on the CMP sensor? But runs strong and never a power problem just idle and high HC.

Other day on my 91 explorer I found a Round red male plug, not connected to anything, under the back of the alternator. Not the main plug connecter but next too it. Or part of the alternator. just coming out of the conduit. I'll load a pic in the day time.

Would it be worth trying a computer from a junk yard to try it? The right one

I do know that all wiring is away for the exhaust and has never touched it. I've been reading different pages about it. But still nothing has helped much :/ Just a weird problem somewhere in the system

I was reading on here that if I was to go to a junk yard to find a 91 with a BAP sensor

I hooked up a volt meter to the MAF and watched the voltage changed as a rev the engine. Numbers matched the right rpms to voltage output. Same for the TPS. And the Air temp sensor and ECT (replaced)

I understand the no OD is not causing HC. Just two problems. OD wil not work until the engine is right. So I'm thinking whatever that is making the engine run high HC is making it not run right.
