Hit the "House" botton on the bottom of the screen (bottom middle - it is in between Radio and Climate). Once you hit that a little menu should pop up to change the display layout, and then select the top one. You will then be able to see your wallpaper and the layout will be a little different.

I only use the background image when its on that display option where it only shows the background image (don't know what it's called or how to describe it too well...). So there is no contrast problems. The image you gave me was a little small, it was actually smaller then the recommended...

Sure, the only problem is I can't find a good image/don't know what one you'd like. Is there a specefic image you would like? You can search Google Images and find one and I'll be more then happy to scale it for you. It's not difficult at all to do this, it only requires basic Photoshop...

wow, I would not pay that much for that! I can do that for $15 & 2-3 hours. Way over prices. And in most states its illegal. because your tail lights will no longer be reflective, so if you get hit from behind you're at fault. (I believe, this is how a cop explained it to me)

Any Double Din will fit. I recommend Crutchfield.com They include everything you will need (instructions, wiring harness, dash kit, support,ect..).

What type of X do you have? I have an 05 but I don't have a rear speaker. I'm not positive, But I figure that extra plug would need be for the single speaker. However I could be wrong. I'm not sure if a circuit tester would work for a speaker.. but I guess you could try to see if power is going...
