Probably the temperature sender. It looks like a small spark plug. On your motor, I don't know exactly where it is though. I had the same problem. If you're scared of trying to do it yourself, it won't cost much to have someone replace it for you. It should be located on the intake someplace...

No, maybe you're right. It really shouldn't drop noticably after engaging the window down. It's only a window after all-- I guess. The gauge stays straight up for everything else though.

Take my observation with a grain of salt: How much were you overheating? Could you hear the engine complaining, or did you rely on the gauge? 5 minutes might not be long enough to cool down that motor; esp. with it shut off. That's the funny thing, the steering wheel is totally lined up. I've own tons of cars/trucks, and most of them drove straight with the steering wheel a little off-center. It almost feels like a stereo knob, where there is a notch to show you what center is. Michael.

I got 35mpg on a recent trip, although the flat bed ride home after the trans exploded maybe had something to do with it.

Is it possible to wreck anything by shifting into 4-wheel high while moving? The manual says you can hit the button on the dash at speeds up to 50mph, but, I've heard that damage could still result. I'm on my 2nd trans now, so I don't want to risk wrecking something on this new one.

trans Got it fixed, all the seals, including the rear main. $800. I knew it might happen, so it seems I caught it in time. (Plus had 10 quarts of trans fluid on hand when it busted. It was enough to move it 50 yards to get off the highway.) Been driving it--it seems fine now. michael.

I like that answer. 385/labor- 15/parts. That's fine. It's a pain in the ass to do that. I'd feel a different way if I didn't live in a city, and not have a driveway. I'd love to do it myself. But, I can't.
