    Grinding sound when braking

I have a similar problem. Change out 4 rotors and put on 4 new ceramic brake pads. Main reason, eliminate "squishy" pedal and no more brake dust. Amazingly, brake pedal feel is much improved and dust is almost eliminated. Here is the problem: When going down hill or decelerating from...

How To: Upper Control Arm / Ball Joint Replacement (Lots of Pictures)

Make sure the boot is seated properly at the top. I remember the same thing on my other explorer, just had to push it up to the recessed ring to make it seat right. Hope this helps. -Patrick

    fuel consumption

That comes out to about 11.5 miles per gallon. I have a 2000 E.B. 4.0 SOHC and have 125,000 miles on it and I average 16-18 miles per gallon. I guess that comes out to about 7.3 Kilometers per liter.

How To: Upper Control Arm / Ball Joint Replacement (Lots of Pictures)

Help. I have changed out both passenger and driver UCA with Moog parts. My problem is that the grease leaks out the bottom of the boot after driving just one day. If I don't re-lube the ball joints, it starts to squeak. As soon as I re-lube it, the squeaks go away, but only for that day, the...

    97 SOHC Engine noise

What kind of noise. I have a 2000 4.0SOHC and it made a "rattling"/"tapping" noise when I started it. I took it to Ford and they told me that they have a service bulliten for this, NOT a recall. Only if you came in, did they fix it. They replaced the timing chain tensioner's, cam sprocket...

    New Brakes Help

No one has damaged their ABS system after pushing fluid back into the system? Yes, you can just push the piston in and put a rag around the reservoir so the fluid won't overflow onto the engine, but I have seen many ABS systems fail because someone pushed the piston without using the bleeder...

    2003 Keyless Entry Code Location..

It should be on the computer in the back. I have a 2000 E.B. and it is printed on the computer in the back. Open the back driver side compartment where the bottle jack it and look on the computer, it should have a sticker with the code on it. I have installed by alarm through there and it...

    New Brakes Help

It is very easy to change the pads. Take off tires, remove caliper, use a C-clamp to push in piston and change pads. But, if you have antilock brakes, be sure to open the bleeder valve before pushing the piston back into the caliper or you'll break the ABS module, that would set you back about...

KYB and Tokico.. comments on these shocks

I bought the KYB MonoMax and have to say that it is a much firmer ride on the road. But, hit a speedbump at an angle or enter the driveway at an angle and no more banging your head on the door glass. Also, the other day some idiot decided to slam on his brakes on the Freeway and I had to slam...

    KYB Mono Max...Worth the price?

I searched the forum and not one match for the KYB Mono Max shocks. Anyone has any feedback if they are worth it? I was looking at IAS, Rancho 9000's or the Mono Max. I do a little off roading on the sand only and mostly paved traveling.

    What subs should I get?

My friend owns a stereo shop and I think I heard one of the best sounding subs.......the Alumapro Alchemey BandPass. They come in 8", 10" and 12". This thing SLAMS. I had a pair of old school Soundstream SPL's, and this is just as loud and requires soooo little space. Check it out at...

    Explorer Express Handling Package

x-factor- what I mean by rocking is, when I hit a speedbump at an angle, front rt....then front lt.....rear rt and then rear lt, my truck rocks enough to send the wife out the car...this would have been great for an out of a bad date, but I'm married to this one and have to keep her. The...

    Explorer Express Handling Package

How much did you spend? Who installed it? I wanted to go with the handling package instead of the X-spec package so I don't loose any height. I do some light treading in the sand to do some fishing and need the ground clearance. Is the handling package and X-spec package ride the same. I...

    Explorer Express Handling Package

Has any one tried the Handling package offered by explorer express? I was hoping for some feedback as to how this improves handling. The package costs $479.99 and includes edelbrock shocks F/R and rear sway bar. If it's not worth it, I was going to go with the Rancho 9000's. If anyone has...

    Installed Rancho RSX's

I also live in Hawaii. Which catalog did you order it from or did you go to "4 wheel parts" or "Maui off road"? Also, my Xplorer rocks on speedbumps quite severely, I'm sure the shock aren't worn out, but everyone told me that new shocks would help cure this problem. Could you please explain...

    Severe rocking on speed bumps

A lot of people recommended the Rancho along with others, but I heard a lot orf bad things about the Rancho's, I'll look into the Blistens and Koni's along with Sway Bars and some Polyurethane bushings. Do you know anyone who looked into the mounts that connects the body to the frame? Any...

    Severe rocking on speed bumps

New guy here! Looks like a cool, knowledgeable place to ask a question. I couldn't find a similar question posted previously. Here it is: I have a 2000 E.B. AWD. Whenever I enter my driveway or hit a speedbump at an angle, I rock left and right severely and my wife had hit here head on the...
