What is the life of the starter.

My starter went last month at 110K miles. Of course I was 300+ miles from home. Still 9 years with the same truck with no major problems is a blessing.

    Common problems by year...

Things that have gone wrong... [list=1] Every Oxygen sensor has gone bad at one time or the other. Auto Hubs died while on a soft sandy beach. Replaced with Warn Manuals... The "dang" Heat Shield rattle from hell. Pulled it off myself. Funny thing is I heard the rattle on another explorer...

Thoughts on Adverse Impacts Associated w/ 4-Wheeling on the Beach???

My 94 EB is on the Beaches of NJ at least 100 days a year due to my love of Surf fishing. Besides losing the Autohubs on the beach I have no other complaints about how it handles. I have no rust problems either. Dead Link Removed

    92 check engine light problem

I'm having a similar problem. I took my 94'Explorer over to Firestone and they read the codes. There were no bad codes. Plus the truck has no symptoms. Just a "Check Engine" light. Firestone is thinking it is a bad Cam Sensor but don't want to replace it yet because of the price involved and...

    Sticker Shock

I'm telling ya', it's really sickening that, as IAMCDN stated above, the F150 SuperCab 4x4 is LESS money, is bigger, has a bigger engine, same gas mileage, same 4 door seating, and most importantly, is a real truck. Even though the 94' EB was MSRP'ed at 27K, I paid 22K. I still get queasy...

    Sticker Shock

There I was on the Ford Website. Looking at the new Explorers and I saw the "Build Your Own" section. I bought my EB Explorer in 1994 at the MSRP of $27K. I went into Sticker Shock when I saw that a New EB Explorer with the same options costs $36K. That's in Thirty Six T-H-O-U-S-A-N-D...

Front end Tow Hitch for 94' Explorer?

I just bought a 94 qt. custom Cooler Rack that holds 8 Fishing Rods. This is going to be installed on the front of my 94' Eddie Bauer Explorer for driving on the beach while Surf Fishing. Does anyone know of a company that makes Bolt-On front end hitches for the 94' Explorer. I know Draw-Tite...

    Gotta love it.

The thing is that when you get a pass to drive on the beach, you are required to have a certain amount of equipment in the truck. (at least up here in the NY, NJ area because the sand is pretty soft). A tow rope is definately mandatory. I had my Autohubs go on the beach last year and I...

    cb buzz

Where did you get the power from? Run power lines directly from the battery for CB and Ham installation. Bring the wires into the passenger area from the small hole under the driver's size firewall. You will notice this will cut down on the noise you are hearing. Also, get rid of that crummy...

    Gotta love it.

Being a Surf Fisherman, this is what we all dread. Fortunately it looks like a Chevy! Dead Link Removed

    Vacuum Leak?

I was driving (94' EB) the other night and when I stopped at the light I noticed that when idling, the engine was bucking. I also heard a hissing sound. When I got home I opened the hood and traced the problem to a hose not being connected on the Vacuum intake above the PCV valve (V6 Pushrod...

    Steering Stabilizer

When I upgraded my shocks a few months ago, I also asked the Firestone tech to install a steering stabilizer on my 94'EB. He took one look under the front and said, "where??". They would have had to drill the front end to install it. But it really wasn't needed. I put on the Monroe Sensatrac's...

    Edelbrock or Bilstein

I had Monroe Sensa-Tracs installed yesterday on my 94'EB (55k miles). As we drove off over our first patch of road, my son said."Wow, what a difference!" I also had Bosch Platinum Plugs and Wires installed at the same time. If the ride is not as good as new, it's pretty darn close.
