    Well, I dropped the pan and replaced the EPC (replaced due to the high mileage), the #2 solenoid (the possible culprit), and VB gaskets. I also took the time to adjust the bands one more time, in case I did that wrong (all my marks went right back to where they were originally, so that's out)...

    I'm not a guru, but at least I can help you out on this question. The adjustment is on the outside of the case on the left (driver's) side of the transmission, if you are adjusting the O/D band, you don't have to remove the neutral safety switch, since it's the band closest to the bell housing...
