    Some Advice?

I got rid of my code p0171 and I had a vaccum leak so I'm assuming you definitely have one. So you got the brake booster line, then pcv, and that vaccum plug thing. Make sure all the little red vac lines are hooked up just follow them. Also there is the egr tube to the intake manifold o-ring...

96 4.0 is it a bad idea to replace trans fluid 123,000 mi

? I bought the truck at 118,000 and I don't know if it has had trans fluid ever changed it says 30,000 in the manual so assuming its never been changed am I at the point of no return where I will likely damage the transmission. No problems I just like to take care of my vehicle.

No start after intake manifold gasket job. What am I missing???

whats it sound like when you try to start it? Spray choke cleaner in the air intake if it starts its fuel. Make sure all connections are hooked up, then make sure all vaccum lines are hooked up, check the fuses, check the schrader valve for fuel pressure see if it squirts out, look for broken...

new heads overheated for 5 mins help

Update So the overheating was cause by an air pocket I bled the system and topped it off with coolant. Secondly the noise from the passenger valve cover I figured that out too, one of the rocker arm bolts was loose so no more banging noise from the valve cover. I've driven the truck and no...

new heads overheated for 5 mins help

Hey so I just did new heads on my 96 ford explorer 4.0 ohv engine. I put it back together and wouldn't run crank and vroom! no start. Turns out the gasket from the egr tube that goes into the upper manifold wasn't seated properly. So it runs now, but now there is something going on in passenger...

96 Explorer crank vroom! no start

So I took everything apart besides the cylinder head today lower intake and up and made sure lower intake, fuel rail, upper intake seated fine bolts were nice and tight. fuel injecters seemed to be alright, all the sensors are in I checked several times except this one small gray wire plug that...

96 Explorer crank vroom! no start

Yeah pjtoledo I'm thinking my lower intake or valve covers maybe aren't in right or seating right I don't feel as confident in those as I do the fuel rail and upper intake I feel those are probably ok, but either way I'm checking them all so I guess I'll see. Thanks for posting and to jterry211...

96 Explorer crank vroom! no start

Yeah the spark wires are all going to the correct cylinders and it was running before I replaced the head gasket and I replaced the lower/upper intake gaskets along with the valve cover gaskets as well.

96 Explorer crank vroom! no start

I should of made the title crank start stall because it starts just immediatly vroom followed by stall, this sucks any ideas probably wouldn't be spark? I'm really in between air/fuel as for air maybe something like lower intake, fuel rail, upper intake aren't seating properly or aren't torqued...

96 Explorer crank vroom! no start

just adding it's not the fuel inertia switch, the vehicle has fuel pressure because fuel squirts out of the release valve air filter is locked in and the air hose is nice and tight on the throttle body. Spark plugs are tight wires are snug on the plugs the coil side of the wires are secure with...

96 Explorer crank vroom! no start

Okay I have a 96 ford explorer xlt 4.0 v6 ohv and I just did headgaskets on it. Now in attempt to run it I try to start it and it just cranks vroom! and doesn't start. I'm assuming a vaccum leak but I don't know I there isn't a lot of vaccum lines and I'm also considering the fuel inertia switch...

Could I let the cylinder heads sit in hot water?

96 4.0 v6 OHV I am in the process of cleaning the cylinder heads/mating surfaces. I have both cylinder heads out and have scraped some gasket & grime and such with a razor and brake clean. They are still pretty dirty and cleaning the passages inside are a pita. I saw on wikihow.com they have...
