Same general area I believe. We started out on Vallecito Wash and took the junction up Little Devil Wash. The first picture was taken in the canyon that exits after Devil's drop (Broken Shaft Gulch - I believe). The second picture was taken on the bench after the first of the three drops in...

I thought about doing the same thing. I still think that it could work. Now that my shock mounts are built into the cab cage and my wheel wells have been re-tubbed, I don't see myself reworking the back end to do what you are considering.

I am currently running 1.5" wheel spacers on all 4 corners. Since my rear width is almost identical to my front width, running spacer on all 4 corners was my only option. I still rub a bit on the rear, but it is fairly minor compared to what I was getting before. I have found that American...

Picked up the Explorer today. My job over the weekend will be to replace the interior and wire my radios and accessories. Here are some pictures from when I picked it up tonight. Oh... did I mention that it is painted? Next week it will get it's final touches for now, a front...

Tie rod was hitting the spring pocket, so a custom one was in order. This will get powder coated black. This was done by hand on a lathe, and no I did not do it. Pretty impressive though: Closing up the cargo area. The sheet metal will step up and fully enclose the shock tower. Raw...

Right now the ABS unit is just removed. I have not re-plumbed anything. From what I have heard, the only down side should be an ABS dash light. I could be wrong, but I think that the bias control is handled by the master and the booster. I don't believe that the ABS unit influences the bias...

Thanks for the comments. As for fiberglass. I think that my plan is to run a set of Walkers with 3.75 bs at some point in the future. As I looked around, I could not believe how impossible it is to find a 5 on 4.5 17" wheel with anything less than 4.5" bs. Unfortunately at almost $400.00 a...

Engine cage! Keeping the battery under the hood will require me to run an Optima Yellow Top, which is not my first choice in AGM batteries given recent reported failure rates. I will hope to get a good one, and will keep the option open to relocate the battery to the rear of the truck in the...

Thanks, I was obviously upset about the Ranger back when it happened. Now that this one is getting closer to driving, I am happy that I was able to make the change. 4.0 SOHC >>> 3.Slow OHV; 4 Seats and locking weather proof storage >>> 2 Seats and an open bed.

Shock and cage killed keeping the stock rear bench. It was close, but just short of fitting. The Explorer will be two seater until I can work the purchase of two more bucked seats into my budget. Not a terrible thing, since buckets in the rear will provide better containment for rear seat...

No, I wish that I was an accomplished fabricator and had all of the tools of the trade. I am working with a fabricator on this one, because I don't have the time right now to garage fab this truck. I would rather it get done and get used than have it sit unfinished in my garage for years on end.

That looks great. I just started posting over here. It is cool to see all of the Explorers that I have followed on DR for the past couple of years over here.

Truck looks great. I especially like the wheels. I have always liked the Robby Gordon style wheels. Why did you choose to run a CA flag being from WA?
