    Theft Light / Key Issues

Is it part number F8SB-15607-AC? Like the one in the picture below? I took my steering column covers off, and noticed the little green plug at the top of the black housing was a little messed up. I'm wondering if that is causing issues with the signals.

    Theft Light / Key Issues

Hello everybody. Was hoping someone here could help me out. I have a 1999 Explorer Sport, with 180K on it. It's just a beater that gets me to and from work. It is a 5-speed stick. Recently, I started having issues from time to time with starting it. I will put in the key, turn it to the...

    Lift My Explorer

Roman, Thanks for the info. I looked under the Explorer just now. It looks very similar to my Ranger, but a little different. Probably because my Ranger was 4wd and my Explorer is 2wd. I was also looking at the spring-over-axel conversions, pretty good bang-for-your-buck when you buy the kits...

    Lift My Explorer

So I am daily driving a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport with the 4.0L OHV motor (if I recall correctly). It is pushing 175k, and still runs great. It also has the 5-speed stick. It is a 2WD model. As of right now, it is all stock. It is actually pretty fun to drive, and has allot of pep to it. I've...

    Love My Sport!

I just did shocks lol. They were the factory ones on there with 170k on them. Rode like crap. Much better now with the fresh ones.

    Love My Sport!

So last night I did a little overhaul on my '99 Explorer Sport. New brakes (all 4 corners), new wheel bearings for the front, new shocks (all 4 corners) and replaced the sway-bar links just cause. Front brakes were gone, rotors warped and grooved. Back brakes were shot too and the emergency...

    Issues With Not Starting

Well, last night was a doosie. Had major thunderstorms in the area. Went out this morning and explorer didn't want to start. Had to get a ride from the wife. :( On the way home, I picked up the switch from the local auto parts store. Got home and put it in. First try, started fine. YAY! :D...

    Issues With Not Starting

I bought a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport to drive as a work-beater while the wife gets to drive the nicer Escape. Been having some issues recently with the Explorer not starting. The Explorer is a 5-speed stick, with the overhead valve V6, and roughly 170,000 on it. It runs and drives great, just...

    Help With New Explorer

Thanks for the tips. I order a set of sway bar links, easy and cheap enough to replace as preventative maintenance. The only other minor issue I know of right now is that the temperature gauge doesn't work. I haven't really dug into that yet, but I will this weekend when I start cleaning the...

    Help With New Explorer

Well, I was wrong. Turns out I have the OHV motor. Checked it out when I got home tonight.

    Help With New Explorer

Yes, you are correct, I am able to go through it and fix anything that needs attention. It is the things that need "additional" attention that I was looking for. It is the single overhead cam motor if I recall correctly. I will do a little research on the timing chain issues you mentioned. Thanks
