Hello I am wondering if anyone has connected a dashcam to the wiring harness of the rear view mirror. I was thinking there would be some sort of pre-made harness that I can connect a dashcam to that I could buy online, but I dont know what words I should specifically search for.

update: dealer says the truck needs a new steering gear. Lost communication to module. Are many others running into the same issue where the steering gear fails and is not being covered by the recall? No luck so far with ford care or dealer in amicable resolution.

Ran into same problem again.. Currently getting service power steering now error and service advancetrack error. No power steering at all at this point. Waiting on tow. Feels like steering is locked even when moving slowly.

Everything is fixed on this issue now. The problem was a bad ACM.(The dealer was wrong) I replaced it with a used one. Thanks Jason and Peter for the help!

So Im back from the dealer, they want $1000+ to repair. They told me that the APIM needs to be replaced. I had an extended warranty on it , but it expired in april of this year. Is this something that I can source myself on ebay or elsewhere? ( I saw some kinda pricey on ebay for $699! Sheesh)...

Hi just an update, I went ahead and brought the truck in to the dealer for service because it was saying that there was an extended warranty for the my ford touch apim for my vin according to the ford owners website so ill wait and see what they say.

i ended up going to a small independent body shop for this. the larger ones wouldnt fix without repainting the entire roof, and charged double the rate i paid as a result of that. they did have to take down the headliner as you said. they fixed the sheet metal and put paint on that small area.

i was very unlucky to hit the antenna on the exact spot as the metal garage door handle. ripping it right off. i think i would be able to bend some of the sheet metal back, im just wondering how much work it takes to get to it from underneath. my main worry here is getting it fixed correctly so...

Still no luck, with ford they told me my vin does not fall into the recall, even though it is a 2013 explorer with same exact symptoms /solution. Everybody in customer service there is like a robot.

I took my car to the dealer for this , and they are telling me that my VIN is not covered under the recall even though the symptom is the same, DTC code is the same, part is the same (steering rack). Anyone from FORD corporate can help with this? i filed an NHTSA complaint as well.

Finally got mines fixed. I would always get an odor thru vent after driving about 20 min and coming to stops. Also an odor throughout garage when parking at home. Turns out my transfer case failed and was leaking fluid unto exhaust pipe.

I am taking my Ford in for the third time in hopes they can finally resolve the issue with the gas smell from vents. I really hope they can get to the bottom of the problem because the odor is making us sick. My wife almost passed out from it.

I feel like I am getting the cold shoulder now from dealership with this issue.

Not sure , All I can tell you is there is a foul smell from the vents while driving. it smells like gas to me. That TSB didnt fix it.

they performed 13-9-18 tsb, something involving replacing radiator hoses, themostat and such, but that didnt fix the problem.

Got the the truck back today but still smelling the same odor. The dealer was able to smell it as well. Truck is back in the shop again.

I am getting the same gas smell in my truck . I Have the car at the dealership now to check it out.

Has anyone had their issue resolved? Ive been to the dealer twice now. Spoke to both the dealer and ford this week and waiting to hear back for next steps.

Hi Peter the temperature i measured is what is coming directly out of the vents. (Not the interior cabin temperature). My concern is the large difference in temperature when idling vs when driving.
