Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is the relay? Where is it located under the hood?

Here's an update for anyone still out there. I finally got around to replacing the AC motor resistor and my fan is still not working. A friend of mine suggested that there's no power running to the motor at all. I'm out out of ideas so any and all suggestions are welome.

I've noticed a gasoline smell in the cab ever since I had the fuel pump replaced. A few friends have suggested that an O-ring is to blame and I likely need a replacement, I'm guessing there's one associated with the fuel pump. Any ideas on where to start looking are greatly appreciated!

Ah thank you, that's a great walk through. I've heard a lot about those things on the forum so it was only a matter of time. I appreciate the insight, would you recommend a specific brand as far as replacements go?

So I've got an 02' Sport that I adore. However, anytime I encounter the slightest bump on the road it sounds like my truck is a giant dog toy. I can't travel on any rock or oil road without the thing squeaking to high heaven. I'm hoping this can be solved with a little grease in the right...

The CEL has been alternating on/off since I got the truck. I guess I haven't paid close enough attention to notice if it comes on at a specific point during my daily drive. It looks like I'll have plenty to keep me busy this weekend, at least i got paid today!

I've been reading up on a few of those for the past hour. I was about to leave for work when it happened so I had to hop in a spare vehicle and hit the road, haven't had a chance to look at anything at all. I imagine the MAF does need a good cleaning since it hasn't been done in the approx...

I started up my Ex this morning and it turned over probably 6 or 7 times before it started. It ran fine all the way to the gas station. I filled up my tank with unleaded as always and now the truck starts but sputters and shakes for several seconds before dying. Please help!:mad:

Just want to share a pic of my truck for any interested. This was her maiden mudding voyage after being driven in mostly the southeast US and Alaska for most of her life. She was thrilled to tear up some pastures.

good news! Well I learned a few things today while I was working on yanking the ac blower motor from my 98 parts truck. I pulled the motor from my truck to find some kind of insect nest inside the fan. I'm not sure that's what made my fan stop working because the motor worked for a week or so...

I think that'll be my next move just to verify what's going on. I can always upgrade to a new motor if the need arises as long as I know that's the problem. I'll keep you posted, I appreciate the insight!

I'll have to check that next, then. What will I be looking for when I pull the motor out? Will it have any obvious signs of being donezo?

Yikes. I'm glad I know of that now, thanks for the heads up! I checked the blower motor fuse under the dash and also the larger one under the hood. I checked the latter immediately after noticing the fan had stopped, and the former looked fine when I checked it as a follow-up.

Just an update: I tracked down the resistor in my truck. My grandpa gave me the go-ahead on pulling parts from his 98 XLT that had a working resistor, so I yanked it and popped it in my 92 and my blower still doesn't work. What I did find however was what looked to be an old nest for some manner...

I want to pick the brains of those involved in this thread. I was searching for the blower motor resistor and discovered that the vacuum line running from the air box to the motor had been cut approx. 18" from the air box. I don't know why this was done or to what end, I only assume that it's...

Has anyone else had this issue? I drive a 92 Sport, 4X4. I bought the vehicle knowing that the A/C didn't work, I checked under the hood and noticed that the compressor wasn't "plugged in": the small harness that plugs into the top of the compressor was unplugged and tucked underneath the 4.0...

I've got a 4x4 92' Sport in what I'd consider great condition, but just the other day my AC/heater blower went out completely. I'm not too educated when it comes to auto maintenance so I'm asking fellow Explorers to help me out here. Anyone have this happen before? The condenser still comes on...
