    Power Seat Motor

Okay, so I'm selling my 2001 Sport Trac and I wanted the next owner to have a great truck so I've fixed everything that can be fixed - except the seat motor. I am extremely tech-savvy so I know how the motors work - just like the window motors, they're reverse polarity driven electromagnets...

    Replacing the Altnernator

go to www.fordparts.com and search your VIN. Go to "electrical, charging, and starting" and it'll list the alternator. you can get the OE part number from there and search the web for better prices - but you can make sure it's the right part with that oe part number.

What did you do this weekend? Participation required

I did a lot this weekend - prepping my 2001 sport trac to sell it. Rear passenger window wasn't working - after a ton of troubleshooting, I figured out the master switch in the drivers door was bad. I could've probably fixed the original one but I found one for $20 and swapped it out. Cruise...

2003 Sport Trac Rough/Pulsing Idle on Startup

I know this is kinda basic but I'm mentioning it because I've effed it up before - When you changed out the IACV and the MAF Sensor did you have the battery disconnected? I fried the ECU on a nissan when I started out as a mechanic cause I was in too much of a hurry to disconnect the battery.

    2002 sport trac transmission problem

If you know anyone with an obd scanner - like a real computer that tells you voltages for different parts of the vehicle - see if you can borrow it and drive around with it hooked up and check the voltages to the shift solenoids. The valve bodies on sport tracs are notorious for failing which...

2003 4wd banging when shifting gears after transmission replaced.

Do you know anyone with a tuner you could borrow for 20 minutes or so? There's a bunch of stuff it could be but if you can hook it up to a tuner and read the voltage outputs on your shift soleonoids while you're driving, you can narrow it down way quicker. I've had 3 sport tracs, only the one I...

    No headlights, only high beams?

Several of the early sport tracs have issues with the multifunction switch - windshield wiper, turn signal, high-beam switch wiring. I've owned 3 different sport tracs and they've all eventually had this issue - it's never been the been the switch itself - the wires just get pulled out of the...

What did you do this weekend? Participation required

This weekend I took care of some stuff on my truck that's been bothering me for a while. The front dome lights weren't working because the leads where the bulbs were supposed to make contact had completely disintegrated so I wired in some LEDs - they're awesome. I'm going to do the same thing to...

No power to overhead console and map lights

I had this issue and come to find out, the thin - I guess you'd call it a circuit board - thin plastic with copper leads going to the light bulbs - the board had disintegrated and there was nothing making contact with the light bulbs. I couldn't find just that replacement circuit board/paper...

Timing Set - Complete Failure Imminent and Need Help

Hey, so I've owned 3 different sport tracs over the years and never had this problem until a few months ago. I had that same tick and it scared the crap out of me. I got a stethoscope and listened over each valve and couldn't find it but I put it over the aluminum section adjacent to the power...

P0733 on 2001 Explorer Sport Trac

Howdy, I just bought a 2001 Explorer Sport Trac with 175,000 miles. Drove it for 2 months and it started slipping and over revving when it'd try to hit 3rd. If I'm in second and I feel like its about to try and shift - if I let off the gas it'll hit third, but if I leave the gas applied in...

    New From Fort Worth

Howdy, I bought a 2004 Explorer Sport Trac when I was a kid going into college. Loved that truck and had it for 5 years. Traded it off for a jetta, then kept trading off cars every 6 months to a year and started missing my sport trac. Mentioned to a coworker that my Hummer was crapping out...
