Officially bought something new. The rust was starting to get to her, engine & transmission are weak (though still driving.. somehow). Here's the new project:

Finally time to move on. Engine is on it's last leg, transmission has been slipping for around 4k miles now. It's been a good run guys.

Still around, still got the explorer (but for how long, who knows). Currently sitting at about 181k, which means ive just passed 25k with the timing chain rattles.. (knock on wood!)

Yeah. Was parked in a parking lot, and my school's plow backed right into it. Estimated at about $600 in damage.

For now.. timing chain guides are still rattling away..

Had it towed down to the shop - ICV needed to be replaced, and had them clean the throttle body & put in new battery terminals. Starting right up now!

Haha, I still haven't had her towed down - I'm a full time student, so it's rough! And maybe not quite! Rhode Island is pretty flat - That picture is from Vermont - I go to college up there!

Well, I think this is the end. I can't get it started at all. Starting fluid, doesn't matter.. won't stay running. Will probably have it towed into town at some point this week and have someone tell me if it's even worth it to fix. I'll probably be looking to sell my taillights soon.

Next time I get a chance to go down to the local parts store I'll have them read it. See what we can get.

No CEL upon start up now. Didn't have my code reader on me. Even when there have been past issues with it starting, and it shows CEL/Battery lights, no codes pop.

Down in Providence during the summer, Northern VT during the winter

It has been surprisingly good this winter! These Vermont winters are harsh, and we've had quite a few days well into the single digits and below, and she hasn't really given me too many issues starting up - and it seems to be an intermittent thing with the chain guides rattling.. Some days...

@jpr175 PA883 is what most people use. It's a ranger one, but it works the same.

Just as @FPGT24 said, continued hard start/no start in cold weather has reared it's ugly head back up. Looks like I'm going to have to do those plenum gaskets ASAP, I can't not have a vehicle up here in Vermont for the winter. The Explorer might be getting sold soon though.

Lucky, everything up here is just like mine, rockers rusting through and everything. Wish mine was rust free!

I've really neglected and haven't put much towards the Explorer since I got back to school. Only put probably 250 miles on it since the beginning of September, just haven't really needed it and when I do use it, it's just for the 15-20 minute ride into town. Timing chain guides are slowly...
