Confirmed: Some Exhaust in Cabin when Acceleration issue is From the Front

Keeping an eye on this since I've had the TSB done without much improvement. Just received the recall letter but guessing it's the same repair I've had done without much improvement. Still shutting off re-circulatory and opening windows after a hard throttle, doesn't even need to be WOT.

    2017 Oil Pan leak

So the engine was clattering, etc running on half a quart of oil and now it's just okay, no issues?

    Only a 14-15 gallon tank?- MY17

Totally normal. It would have also been much better with a larger tank but guessing room / possibly weight dictated sizing.

    What a week...

Just use Top Tier branded stations.

    Time for tires

Thank you. I was talking about something official for the "SSM" in regards to the tires. I was hoping there was something similar to a TSB but I got it. As far as the Nittos, I've pretty much read every single website review on them but wanted an Explorer owner's perspective. Thanks you though.

    Time for tires

I was looking for something a little more official then a forum post that might of been copied / pasted from somewhere else. I don't see SSM referenced in Post #433. I don't know what SSM stands for either. The Nitto's I was referencing were in my original post, the NT421Q.

    Time for tires

Well it sounds like the Michelin's are the choice but I'd love to hear someone's opinion of the Nittos on our Explorers. Is there a TSB or anything referencing the Hankook 'accelerated wear'? Mine are definitely chewed up near the edges.

    Time for tires

2016 Explorer Sport Replacement Tires With roughly 34,000 miles on our original Hankook tires they have about 1/8" of tread left I have begun looking for a replacement tires. I'm trying to find something quiet, rides good, good dry / wet performance since I'm in Florida. Has everyone been...

Bad or Burnt Exhaust smell in cabin during hard acceleration.

Is there anything different with 17N03 than what they were doing two months ago?

2016 Sport metal clunk w video *solved

That noise sounds exactly like a removable aluminum jack handle being dropped on the ground lol.

So long, and thanks for the help over the years. Bonus: BMW Comparison Info

Just drove a 2017 BMW X5 for 6 days on vacation. I have to say it rode amazing. Fit and finish was superb. Quiet. It felt slower than the Explorer Sport but I don't even know what engine it had or if there are even different engine options. I was pretty impressed with it. 20,000 miles on it...

Ford offers free repairs to 1.4 Million Explorers - Exhaust

For myself, I can replicate it as much as I want with a pass at WOT so that's not it. Not to mention AC is on re-circulatory.

Ford offers free repairs to 1.4 Million Explorers - Exhaust

Yes but both of those gases are coming from the same source and travel along the same route... So if you have a sulfur smell (from the cats) that means you have an entrance for all of the other gases which undoubtedly includes carbon monoxide.

Ford offers free repairs to 1.4 Million Explorers - Exhaust

I had the TSB done and it really didn't fix it.. Maybe it's slightly better but it still happens with re-circulatory on.

Does this battery need to be replaced?

I just had mine fail at 29,000 miles.

Malfunction of one headlamp...no message ?

Nope you have to use the MK1 Eye Ball. :P

U.S. Expands Probe Into Ford Explorers Over Carbon Monoxide Concerns

Peter you have to push that go pedal a little harder to smell it. ;) :P I don't think the problem is life and death but it's probably not good for our health either by any means. We always roll the windows down after a WOT or even a heavy throttle run. I'm kind of mad at myself about it...

    Hood Struts ??

I'm going to wait to hear some real world reports. I can't imagine anything being off but you never know. Let us know how they work and let's see some pictures.

Anyone Using a 'Bra' on the Explorer

Well, it's not a cheap product by any means. However either is good paint work. I say that price is pretty normal if you're getting the full front end wrapped in a quality product like Xpel Ultimate, etc. California is going to be more expensive as well. I think I paid around $1000 - $1300...

    Hood Struts ??

To Daheim111, I would recommend removing them because they could damage your hood if they aren't designed right. Did you have to drill holes for the install? I agree completely.

Can a 2016 Explorer be lifted without damage?

Exactly. If they don't fit than they need to get the right set-up. It's not rocket science... Exactly what I do as well. I keep a lot of them around strictly for the garage and using to lift without any damage. If we can figure it out, why can't they? lol They just don't care is why, not...

    Hood Struts ??

    Highly likely.

    Hood Struts ??

Interested to see how long they are going to be out of stock. Think I'll send them an email.

2017 Platinum with Sport Grille (Gif animation)

Another thing to consider is that the grill being painted could actually be viewed as a bad thing. I don't know how much highway driving you do but more paint to get chipped. I wrapped the front of my Sport with Xpel Ultimate but nothing on the grille unfortunately.

    2019-2020 Explorer spotted?

How many times are they going to change the foglights? Ford is getting a little silly about their updates in my opinion.
