i have never seen it for myself, but i have read that all 1st gens have an access panel for the transmission. and i have also read that all you have to do is pull back the carpet from underneath the dash to get to it. i dont recall seeing that the seats have to come out

as another thought, maybe your new radio is not hooked up correctly? maybe disconnecting the memory power wire might solve the problem?

i have heard 1st gen explorers are quite popular in mexico... my 93 limited was stolen while i was gone out of state. i wouldnt be suprised if it went to a chop shop and all the parts ended up in mexico....

im sure this will sound like a dumb suggestion, but.... did you check your battery? maybe it went low from the truck just sitting there. or maybe a light got left on or something happened to drain the battery?

there are groups on facebook where people buy, sell, and trade for parts and whole trucks- specifically for the 1st gen. why not look into that? maybe you could find a new body and use your wrecked one to fix it up? or part it out there. ive seen a handful of georgia guys in those groups.
