    Riding down the freeway

    We have a 96 4dr. 4wd. 200k+ miles. Rear shocks have spring support. ALL bushings are top of the line. Front chassis parts replaced. Drives like a dream at 80mph. We live in SW Virginia in the mountains, no issues driving fast.

    I will first say I believe it is an electrical issue. We have an intermittent fuel issue on our Explorer. It will run for weeks with no issues, then I will stop somewhere and it will not start. I get it towed and it starts at the shop. Sometimes it will run for an hour, then quit, sometimes 40...

    Switch from 5w30 to 5w20 in the Explorer - Tech Service Bulletin

    The Ford engines of this era are known to have some small oil passages and it is always recommended to run 5W20 in order to minimize blockage and "pooling" in certain areas of the engine while cold.
