Is there anyway to raise the idle on a 97 xlt with 4.0 SOHC occasionally it will stall while pulling out of a parking space while switching gears could this be a worn IAC any help would be appreciated :wave:

mine does the same I was worried it was my timing chain tensioners but it was the A/C compressor to it will make a click when the clutch engages but when it the A/C or or defrosters are of it still makes little clicking sounds proly just getting worn out my truck is still going strong tho for...

I have a 97 explorer xlt 4x4 and I was wondering whats the max speed in 4x4 high its snowing pretty good up here in north idaho the thing handles like a sport car in the snow i love it :burnout:

And make sure you put a little grease on the turn signal return lever

I just replaced the switch on my 97 explorer it was easy just make sure you dont break the plastic retaining clips and take your time

It also sounds like marbles in a can being shaken around my car kinda makes a weird noise when idling i think is the ac clutch but it not really noticeable my chains and and tensioners seem good for now at 250,000

My 4.0 SOHC has 252,000 miles on it and it has no timing chain issues what so ever and still has original transmission also and i have no issues with this truck i think its luck of the draw with the explorers i got a great one and some people get lemons

I have done a vin check, would it say that they have been replaced on the technical service bulletin or somewhere else cause it says it has in 97 but is that saying they have replaced it or is that when the recall went into affect.
