dynamat won't stop the vibrating! It just makes the panel heavier!
My whole roof is dymanatted; it didn't help SPL one bit. It just sounds "dead" when you hit the roof.
new rule in db drag
this 2003 season, db drag implemented a new rule into the street classes. That rule is that the vehicle must compete with the engine off. They did this because several issues were raised during the off-season about factory-option alternators. To kill any issues regarding...
i must step in here
onelasttry,
I feel I must interject here. When it comes to "street" or "stock" SPL systems, I have yet to come across a one-note wonder, such as in the super-street and extreme classes. You just can't get the boxes big enough to have a single-note peak. Sometimes the...
i don't listen to it that loud!!
when I am competing, and drop the hammer....the voltage drops to about 10 volts!! because of the rules in my class, I can only have one additonal battery (no larger than the one under the hood) and the engine must be off!!!
for daily listening...
loudest "street" explorer in the world
Last year, I had the 6th loudest "street" vehicle in the world at the db Drag World Finals. That was in the Street 3-4 class for db Drag.
Currently, I am 6th in the world in certified SPL in the Street B class for db drag.
you can check out my...
your X is a 98, how much warranty could you have left?
i can't remember, but I think my trap speeds were around 93 MPH. The mph is so-so; the real shine of my X was in 0-60 sprints. It would run 0- 60 in the 5 second range. Troll can verify how quick my X was. I haven't the spray in there...
Get the Nitrous!!!!
I haven't been on the message board in a while.
Anyway, Get the nitrous. My 96 V8 AWD Limited ran a 14.1 last summer (in florida) on a 125 shot of nitrous!! The only other mods were a K&N airfilter and a custom exhaust!
go for it,
Andrew
Oh yeah, it launches...
my HIDs use the phillips transformers/igniters, and I have the D2S bulbs. I believe most HID kits use the D2R bulbs. The D2S bulbs are brighter, but they were designed for projector-beam housings (like in most BMWs.)
I got my kit off of Ebay from a shop called xenonshop.com. I think they...
i'll see if i can find the pics again. I also have piaa 1500 driving lgiths in the stock air dam.
also, the HIDs take much less current to run than halogens; they just take alot of current to ignite them. I used the stock wiring to trigger a relay so that i could use a 10ga. power power...
just use anHID conversion kit. I bought mine off of Ebay for $500. It has been about a year, and they are still perfect. Brighter than all hell!!!! Sure I get a few people flashing their high beams at me, but I've never been stopped by the police.
Andrew
previously, I hit a best of 5.7 for 0-60 with the nitrous on. My X also did a best 60' time of 1.90.
but, I have currently traded hard launches for 153 decibles of ear-piercing, panel-flexxing, vomit-inducing BASS!!!!
those are g-tech numbers, aren't they?
your mph numbers are really high for the simple mods that you have.......the g-tech is usually really high on the mph numbers.
Andrew
leenjen,
I'm sorry, but you are incorrect that the woofers output is cut in half if the woofer share the same airspace.
The main reason that most boxes that have individual chambers sound better is because the box has better bracing (less vibration) that a box with no vibration...
a stock mustang 5.0 cam out of an 89-93 will also work very well for you. The explorer cam is even smaller than a stock mustang 5.0 cam.
I believe a stock mustang cam has around 210 degrees of duration at .050" lift on the intake and the exhaust.
the explorer cam is in the 204-206 range...
65matt,
did you notice any difference with the motorsport headers?
I have a pair of them that troll gave to me. they look like such an abortion that I can't imagine that are even worth a squat.
Unfortunately, I can't find anyone to make a good set of custom ones. troll's guy won't...
yes, I was using the nitrous.
The combo of the massive torque influx of the nitrous and the AWD make for an awesome launch.
My 60' times are at least 1/2 a second faster than a stock V8 explorer.
I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that even TROLL's monster doesn't leave this hard...
I just got back from Moroso Motorsports Park. Tonight was a very busy night at the Strip. It was also very hot and humid (about 85 degrees with 80% humidity) Tons of cars in the sportsman lanes. I only got 3 runs in 4 hours.
My first run of the night was a 14.41 @93.37 mph. This run was...
"off gassing"
what you guys are saying about cross-drilled rotors allowing the gases to escape are correct, but......
modern day brake pads do not have the "off gassing" problems of older pads. (several decades back) The problems was that the gases that were being released by the pads...
no, the splicing into the wires behind the ford explorer radio is for low level inputs (RCA).
If you are going to use the high level inputs on your sub amp (if your amp has them), get the speaker wire leads off of the ford factory amp (which is behind the passenger side cargo trim panel.)...
use rcas off the stock head unit!!!
justin,
the stock head unit has a high voltage/low level output.
take a set of rca cables; the the ends off it. stripp back the wires. now, splice the left and right, positive and negative leads on the rcas into the correct outputs from the headunit...
stock head unit has low level outputs!!
the outputs behind the stock head unit are low level.
If you insist on using a high/low level apadpter, you will need to get the speaker outputs after the factory amp.
If you are just trying to add a sub amp to your factory system, you can cut off...
