No, the sensor itself should measure around 1.6 ohms i think or 1.6k ohms I don't remember. Along as the multimeter doesn't read OL or out of limits your good! It is completing a circuit

    Tired of A4LD

I had my a4ld "built" by one shop only for a year later my overdrive sprag broke and shelled everything. I had another shop build it and we used upgraded planetary gear sets from the 5r55e, it's not cheap the hard parts are pretty pricey but with a shift kit my trans performs really well. I...

    Yet another..

In that particular test your testing resistance from both of the wires that connect to the icm to the crank position sensor itself to ensure there is no open circuit, meaning no broken wires. You can test the resistance of the ckp itself I don't remember the specification. To add to the previous...

    93 explorer front diff clunk

Can confirm, my radius arm bushings were fine but the brackets were cracked. Could be axle pivot bushings were the I beams pivot from but that's not nearly as common. I don't think the axle shafts are to blame but each shift has 2 u joints, just like a drive shift so it's worth wobbling those up...

    Rough Idle... High Hydrocarbons

Check your plugs, and your fuel pressure regulator, pull the vacuum line off of it and smell it for fuel, if it smells like fuel then replace it.

M5OD transmission hybrid- New findings and new gearing.

Nice info, you gotta think like ford sometimes when it comes to parts interchangeability. Why would they design a completely different countershaft just for the 4.0 when it makes similar power to the old 2.9/3.0, that would cost millions of dollars in R&D and production. Its never good to...

    Rough Idle... High Hydrocarbons

Reset your KAM (keep alive memory) which stores all the temporary data for AFR and other stuff by disconnecting the battery for 30 mins or so. do check that intake boot, Mine had holes in it where it goes over the fan shroud.

    Rough Idle... High Hydrocarbons

Coolant temp. sensor is a good track, I posted the testing graph on a forum, I will link it for you. If its a 92 with California emissions im pretty sure it has an EGR, can you take a picture of the intake manifold from the driverside of the engine bay facing the passanger side? if the EGR is...

    head bolts

I have blown even my gear wrench torx bits out, impact highly recommended. Just make sure you get new head bolts and oil them as well. I would upgrade your lifters and pushrods to a pushrod w/oiling hole, I don't think the factory ones have that. I have done lots of lifters on dodge 5.7L (haha...

    head bolts

Well if the machine shop "decked" the heads and cleaned them then I wouldn't worry about cleaning the oil galleries as it should be cleaned out already. If your really worried about it then before you start the motor turn it over without spark plugs to get oil pressure up to the top end then you...

Im leaking 5 qts of oil in .5 mile drive.

Me too. Had just swapped in my brand new 4.0 and forgot to replace that switch. A week later I watched my oil pressure gauge dip in and out and bam down to zero. Coasted into the gas station to watch a nice stream piss out of it.

Typical OBD1, won't tell you anything you need to know. Nice fix!

Brake light & anti lock light on when braking

The lights could also be an ABS failure, dependent on year and if its 4 wheel abs or two wheel, heres a forum on pulling codes and depending on the code we can investigate further. How to: Pull trouble codes on 4WABS, very simple

Brake light & anti lock light on when braking

Sometimes LED bulbs will cause weird issues especially if installed In the brake lamp or turnsignal circuit. Normal hallogen bulbs have a decent amount of resistance but LEDs have close to none, this causes issues for the brake lamp switch which communicates between both pcm and abs module...

Part throttle stumble closed loop operation.

Use a vacuum gauge when hot and compare it to vacuum at cold. look for a steady needle. Could have valves not fully seating or simply worn camshaft. If the vacuum is good at idle, chances are mechanically speaking the valve train is ok. If you can use a long vacuum line to monitor it while...

    hot swap a bleeder screw?

Gravity bleeding is very common. I use it at work a lot if I am swapping out a bleeder or doing a caliper to start the bleeding process faster. I clamp the soft rubber line with needle nose vise grips too, helps with loss of fluids. Works great, but always double check for a good peddle.

Failed Smog: HC, NO OK - but CO is high

possibly, as tony pointed out excess CO is a result of un-burnt fuel in the exhaust. Hook up a vacuum gauge to the tee off of the left side of the intake manifold and watch for a fairly steady needle. the amount of vacuum will vary dependent upon altitude but look for a nice steady needle. An...

Single Hump Locking Key front wheel assembly

Yes, it's on the front page pinned for stock 91 to 94 ex. I did the swap exactly as shown and it works great. I bought the cheaper mile marker hubs with no issues.

How to: TCC lock up switch, and why you need one.

It's much appreciated. I've got an interesting troubleshoot I've been working on that helps explain the EDIS module using a 4 channel labscope for an odd idle, hopefully it will help other people diagnose weird idling issues or misfire issues but work has been busy so hopefully I can finish it...

    Valve cover gasket replacement

Agreed, it's also imperative to make sure the valve cover is flat, not warped. Some tapping with a bal peen hammer and a flat hard surface will be alright to level it back. Don't go crazy with the torque, wrist tight with a 1/4 ratchet is plenty.

    tick tick toc

I've got a brand new LKQ 4.0 and it occasionally has a lifter tick, not on cold starts usually after it has been warmed up but it goes away. From what I understand is a poor lifter oiling design or a bad batch of lifters that can leak oil pressure. Maybe you got a bad batch as well. You would...

Rear Seatbelts - Do not lock under tension

Like anime stated, the tensioners are super finnicky. I had a 1992 Celica with a bad tensioner and I had to take it apart, they work by using a sort of check bell that rolls around an area that it will only be in if the tensioner is setup just like it would be if you were wearing it. When a...

    Battery Drain

Always start with the simple stuff. Do your battery terminals look like chia pets? if so the corrosion can cause a huge increase in resistance, cause a whole bunch of issues. I had some on my truck, and my alternator had large amounts of voltage ripple, and my audio system sounded poor. I...

How to: TCC lock up switch, and why you need one.

After much research, wiring and testing I have successfully installed a manual lock up switch in my ex and have been running it for 5 months now, and I want to clear some of the information that was speculated around doing this. I wanted to install this MOD due to living in Colorado and going up...
