    Head unit hot ??

Thanks for the responses. System is using original factory speakers. As far as the heating vent problem I'm afraid I get the same heat problem in the summer with the air on. I've talked to a stereo place ( crutchfield.com ) and it seems the amp is quite weak and its not unusal to have to crank...

    Head unit hot ??

I've got a 94 with the jbl ,but notice that I must turn up the volume to 80% on the highway. This leads to the head unit getting quite hot. Could the factory amp be damaged or it it too weak? I'm considering replacing it. Any suggestions if I do.

    issues with my alternator

Raceit, I've got similar problems with my '94. Don't notice it related to the cold ,but my voltage gauge drops when I put on heavy draw accessories like the defogger or fog lights. However I'm still getting over 14 volts at the battery so the alternator is probably going but not shot. Battery...

    alternator and battery

Possible Alternator problem I've noticed lately my voltage gauge dropping when I put on accessories like the defroster. Happens at idle . Checked the output at the battery its still near 15 volts. However at idle you can notice a small dimming of the headlights if you put on an accessory. Is my...

    Gabriel VST's

I put VST ( stands for velocity sensitive technology -similar to sensatrac for monroe's ) on my 94 a year ago. Paid $25 US at JC Whitney .Good shock around town or on the highway. Best for the money for sure. Lifetime warranty as well. Combined with the Michelin LTX M/S tires I put on ( through...

    expesive lights vs. cheap lights

Jeff , Unless you're planning to do the Baja 500 I wouldn't blow a small fortune on lights. I put a $25 set of 55W driving lights in my 94 from JC Whitney. They were small enough to get into the vents in the front bumper. Also bought some for a friend's Pathfinder for $35. They are even...

    Monroe Reflex Shocks

Gimp, After a year of street driving I have no complaints with the Gabriels. They cetainly won't let you bottom if you bounce off a sidewalk curb. Do some driving on rough gravel roads as well and they seem to hold up well. I had Monroe Sensa Tracs on my old Bronco ll( an 84 ) and that beast...

    Monroe Reflex Shocks

Hey 'Moron' , First , glad I'm not married and getting great nicknames. I put Gabriel VST on my 94 . The old shocks were OEM and pretty much rusted out and shot so I can't compare to original performance . The Gabriels seem OK .Have had them on for a year. Cheap though at $25 at JC Whitney...

    Placing fog lights in slots..

Quick, I take it you're talking about the vent slots in the bumper.I put some mini halogens in there from JC Whitney mail order. Only $25 US . They are 55 watt and plenty bright. You must drop the licence plate a bit though. There's only 1.5 inches of clearance there so I don't think many...
