    PTU vs PTO?

I’m thinking it’s just wrong wording. All the PIUs that I’ve worked on from 2012-2019 had PTU’s.

Greetings to all. I just acquired a 2020 PIU and had some questions

Thanks for update. Glad it was an easy fix lol.

Greetings to all. I just acquired a 2020 PIU and had some questions

The 2020+ PIUs we put in auction, we just took the rear door panels off and attached the handle to the cable. The window switches I believe were dummy switches. So they allowed the driver to roll the window down but the button itself didn’t work. I think you might have to buy a new window switch.

    Door armor?

We leave the factory ones when they go to auction. Vehicle specific and too much work to remove. Also very heavy.

    Civilian Style Police Center Console??

Might be cheaper if you get a Havis VSX console compared to buying a factory one part by part.

Oil leak front end PIU 2016

Appears to be a torque converter seal leak. Replaced a lot of those seals. Easy if you have a lift and the experience. Wouldn’t recommend to do that at home.

PIU Steering Gear Assembly (Rack and Pinion Gear)

I’ve replaced these on PIUs. Ours have been new from Ford and they require programming. Not hard to replace but we also have lifts. Might be difficult if your on your driveway. You’ll need to download the “As Built” data with IDS.

    2016 PIU Vacuum Modulator?

Was about to say these aren’t vacuum controlled 👍.

I replaced alternator but now tensioner shake...

We replace the tensioner and belt on these 16-19 PIUs for this same noise. They don’t seem to last long with all the idle and drive time these engines have.

    2021 Explorer PIU

Doesn’t look factory. Might be added from a previous build for warning lights on the mirrors.

"HTD Sanitization Solution" - how to activate?

It was the same for our 2020+ PIU’s too.

"HTD Sanitization Solution" - how to activate?

Open all ducts, remove all items and follow this procedure below, then exit vehicle. Be sure all electrical items are off, hood closed, and windows. Here is some other information as well.

Those wires crossing over the hump in the middle, they are located under the carpet toward the driver seat, and the 3 power and 3 ground connectors is located under the carpet by the passenger seat.

2023 Explorer PIU 60A up fitter help

The 4 Aux switches wires are individual ground outputs. You have to connect them to relays or Whelen type device to power any of the factory, or aftermarket lighting/sirens. Our 2020+ PIUs have the wiring behind the master cylinder, two connectors on the radiator grill for sirens, and a 4 way...

    Rear storage on windows

You can buy just the rear window guards. The website doesn’t show all the part numbers. I know Havis and Pro-Gard make window guards but not like the ones you are wanting.

    Rear storage on windows

I’ve installed some for the rear quarter glass and rear hatch window. We bought ours from Troy Products. They offer one with a fire extinguisher bracket and they sit far enough back for your quarter glass warning lights...

Help needed to identify bad cat or bad o2 sensor

We have a lot of 16-19 PIUs in our fleet, and all of them have had the cats replaced (Bank 1or Bank 2) with those codes. Once we replace them those codes never come back till about the time they get wore out again from all the idling. We don’t read the data PIDs with P0420 or P0430 anymore...
