    Headlights on a 2004 (i guess 2002-2005)

thanks 05X, interesting, there are quite a lot of differences between the aus and us. for the same model. i like the us way better, but that isnt going to be that easy as the wiring isnt even there. and the loom isnt right for the harness nor bulb.

    Headlights on a 2004 (i guess 2002-2005)

I needed a new headlight and imported it from the US, (to Australia), but there is no globe for the parking light (small tiny globe in out headlights). Can someone tell me, when you turn on the headlights (just 1 notch), what front lights turn on, on the US model? Its not model related...

    Fuel Injector Replacement

its a piece of cake. the clips on the top of each injector just pull off to one side. Unbolt the fuel rail, and ease it up on front then back etc, with any luck all the injectors will just pop up. Next, clean the area (i used a vacuum cleaner). For the new injectors, spray the rubber O with...

Pull the air intake, clean up the throttle body as best you can with a rag or 2, then start the engine (it will run), spray 1/4 of a can or throttle body cleaner in and all around while moving the butterfly. Especially try and clean put the pins of the flap. Give it a good spray at WOT. The...

How many miles on the timing chains typically 4.0L

new valves / valve grind on only one side and not the other, can cause run issues and exhaust issues, higher compression and increased power out of that side etc. v6 engines are already very hard to stop shaking hence the attempt with the balance shaft.

How many miles on the timing chains typically 4.0L

Sounds like exhaust / metallic, but its very hard to appreciate it off a recording - could be the cats. you could take the exhaust off and run it? Timing chain rattle will be more pronounced with cold engine first start in the morning and is quite obvious.

How many miles on the timing chains typically 4.0L

Doesn't surprise me, once the sprocket lets go, its a new head, you cant do 1 head without the other, so thats 2 heads, once you do that, and the new timing gear, then you may as well put in a reman with a 12 month warranty. And thats what a mechanic / business will always do, as then he...

    Where is the timing chain

if your going to pull the engine yourself, you can check the heads and if ok, you can put all new timing gear in it for about < 300 bucks. buy the timing tools and re-sell them on ebay for the same price.

How many miles on the timing chains typically 4.0L

Hi Exproblems, nothing saves you forever from the guide failure, but frequent oil changes will help as the oil pressure will be higher and cleaner. It will never fail without complaining first (often for years). in your case i suspect a sprocket bolt may have let go, not worn out guides, that...

How many miles on the timing chains typically 4.0L

Sfhess, The plastic pieces wont be from that pictured one, the other one is far more likely, it has a long curved top (that holds the oil on the chain) a ridiculous design, this becomes brittle and breaks off and gets munched. But it doesn't effect the tension at all - it does eventually all...

How many miles on the timing chains typically 4.0L

about 100K on old style (< 2001 model). never have to worry on >= 2001 model, unless you start to hear the death rattle.

    Off Throttle Vibration

no cant drive without the rear shaft as all the power tries to go there. vibration wont be from the rear, it will possibly be from the front tail shaft CV joint going bad.
