removing fuel rail on '99 OHV

I have seen all the posts concerning changing the upper intake gaskets, but they all seem to stop at changing the gaskets at the plastic intake plenum and not replacing the other gasket between the fuel rail and the lower intake. Are there any write-ups (hopefully with pretty pictures;)) on...

    Misfires, cant find the problem.

weak coil? I had the same problem, changed it out and no problem again. word of caution, I went to Autozone and got a Duralast coil, it didn't last 2 months. Finally broke down and got a Motorcraft one.

Ok, I'm having the same issue (4L OHV '99). (Not sure if its a head gasket or not). So let me get this straight, if I want to do the complete job I need: Alabama cyl. #FOR625N x2 (complete heads) Delta camshaft #F-40 KIT (4.0L rocker arm assembly kit incl. pushrods) Mizpah Precision #2244...

Any advice on changing tranny fluid/filter?

My 99' 5R55E has 151K miles on it (I think the previous owner had a tranny flush done at 70K but not sure). I currently do not have any issues with the transmission and was going to change the fluid and filter this weekend. Any tips?

    P0171+terrible gas milleage=??

Update I replaced the upstream O2 sensor and while the tire was off, I rechecked my bank #1 plugs (1-3). I have included pics of them. How do they look? only about 1K miles on them. (Motorcraft plugs) 1st here is the old O2 sensor...

    P0171+terrible gas milleage=??

I'll replace the O2 sensor next. I checked the codes again (without resetting them) and the P1131 code is gone, just the P0171.

    P0171+terrible gas milleage=??

Ok, replaced the MAF and TPS sesor last Sat. Filled her up with gas and now I get GREAT gas milleage. Twice what I was getting before! I have driven it about a week now with about 200 miles since the sensor changeout...but then.... This morning when I started the truck I get P0171 and P1131...

    P0171+terrible gas milleage=??

injectors and O2 sensors are stock (151K) miles. There is a strange smell in the exhaust, almost like unburnt fuel. BTW the IAC was replaced as well.

    P0171+terrible gas milleage=??

    P0171+terrible gas milleage=??

P0171+terrible gas milleage=?? **UPDATE WITH PICS*** '99 OHV Ok, I have p0171 code ONLY, not p0174. I have terrible gas milleage and odd stutter when barely pushing gas pedal at certain speeds. this is what has been replaced. alternator ECT sensor coil plugs (Motorcraft) PCV valve...

rpm's drop and sometimes stalls only at idle!

I'll check that, but my tank is full. However, I did check the volts on the battery while the engine was idling. I was getting 13.6vdc. When it stumbled at idle, the volts dropped to 13.3vdc. I'm thinking the alternator needs to replaced. (even if this doesn't fix it)

rpm's drop and sometimes stalls only at idle!

99 4.0 ohv 4x4. 149K miles. This is the symptom, sometimes only after stop and go traffic for about 30 minutes, at idle, the RPMs will suddlenly drop down to 200 and either come back to normal idle after a brief second, or just stall out. Restarting is quick (not even a second) if it does...

uuhh this is probably really stupid but...

How many wires do you have going to your ECT on your 4.0L X motor? I have one wire coming out of the harness. the one on top of the intake not towards the bottom..

    p1309 4.0L ohv

Thanks, I'll certainly check the IAC. I figured that or some sort of vacuum leak. (but if it was a vacuum leak wouldn't it die all the time at idle?)

    p1309 4.0L ohv

Yesterday out of the blue, stopped at a light, the truck stalls. Restarted with no problem. Driving at highway speeds, no problem, but got a CEL light. Checked with meter and got a P1309. Ok, I understand that this tells me to check the CMP sensor, however in reading the posts on P1309 codes...

Lower Ball Joint Replacement How To (lots of Pictures)

Great post. Some things that worked for me: A) don't try to take the axel nut off while the truck is in the air. b) just remove the brake pads from the caliper, trying to take the caliper bracket and caliper off without removing the pads just results in taking off the caliper and the rotor...

    Help me find TDC!

I'm replacing my CMP shaft. I have the tool to adjust the sensor stator but I need to get the #1 cyl. at TDC. I was plannig on just using a long screwdriver and while hand cranking the crankshaft (clockwise) I could see the screwdriver reach the top and that would be it! However, there are 2...

    Camshaft Posistion Sensor Sqeak

I'm pretty sure my CPS is the culprit for my unusual squeak in the back-middle of the engine (1999 4.0 OHV) Question: Is it the sensor that is makes the squeak, or the syncronizer shaft? Just want to buy the right part..:D

99 Explorer X with odd chirp

Odd squeak/chirping on startup. My 99 Explorer with 4.0L OHV with 113K just started to have squeaking/chipring when I first start the motor. I goes away after about 45sec-1min. The wierd part is that it sounds like it's coming from the top/rear of the motor. It's not any pulley or belt in the...
