    MY X IS BACK

They'll replace anything that is broken. Find a way to put it out of comission then take it in. switching from first to reverse at about 6grand would probably work.

    MY X IS BACK

I got my x back from the dealer again. They had to put a brand new motor in at 62,000 miles because they messed up. You gotta love that. I was thinking about trading it in and getting a new one before all this but now there is no need to. I have a new motor, new Transfer case, new front diff...

    TRUCK IS DOWN AGAIN

Well My explorer is in the shop again. This time it is getting a new engine the old one blew(60,000 miles). the good news is that it A. Is covered under Warranty and B. It wasn't my fault. About 12,000 miles ago the Dealer replaced the timing chain set up due to a recall. The dealership it is at...

    weakest parts

Well let's see. the ball joints (both sides) didn't last the first trip out. The stock side steps had to be taken off that same weekend. I broke the gear that clicks it into 4x4 (twice) That's one of the things being done now. It's been fun and this has all been with it being stock. I can't wait...

    weakest parts

those came off a along time ago. I have put my truck through Hell. I just wanted to see if I'm the only one breaking all these parts or what. I got word yesterday that I blew my front diff. just for starters. so there replacing that the front axle shafts. then they have to get into the Transfer...

    weakest parts

Silver lake is up by Ludington MI, It's about 220 miles from Detroit, but yeah tons of people go up there four wheeling.

    weakest parts

I would, love to able to go ,BUT, once again my truck is in the shop. I think I need to stay away from offroading until I get the suspension beefed up. This is the third time I have had it in the shop this year because I broke something offroading. Thanks for the offer. I get out there sooner...

    Constant Loud Engine Clicking

I took my 97 sport in about 6 months ago and it was the timming chain that was bad. Since they replaced it I haven't heard anymore ticking. Another thing to check is the headers/exhaust manifold if the bolts get lose they will make a sound just like lifters will.

    weakest parts

Just curious what everone has broken offroading. More or less i'm just looking for the stock parts that should be replaced before going offroading. Springs, shocks, sway bars, etc...

    Front Brake Rotor Size

You don't have to remove the hub to get the brake rotors off. If you are replacing them anyway the best way to get them off is to take a hammer and give it a couple of good hits. believe it or not there is nothing holding the rotor on the vehical. The reason they are so hard to take off is...

are stated power gains true for aftermarket parts?

Most of the time they companies will list the highest possible gains that they got when they ran test. THe down side is that you don't know what other mods. were done on there test vehical. plus I'm sure they have the vehical hooked up to a computer during test so they probably change timming...

    What do you think?

YOu kinda have to piece together a lift kit and do a little custom work. You can use the superlift lift kit for a 98 ranger for the front and for the rear you can use the lifted leaf springs for a 91-94 explorer. I might go 5.5" but I have heard of some people running into problems with them so...

    What do you think?

I will probably end up going with the mickey's . I like how they have that square stance to them and besides They won't even have to last a year. THis cumming spring I am going to do the body lift etc. which is when I'll be putting these tires on and then the following spring I'll be putting...

    What do you think?

I am planning on running the 15x10 589 AE rims, One thing I forgot to mention is that I will also have a 3" body lift, warrior shackles, add-a-leaf and the TT . I want the truck to look like a mini monster truck, but I want to be able to take it on the highway.

    What do you think?

O.K. i was curious to get some opinions good or bad on some tires. I don't do too much offroading in my X, so I am mostly setting it up for looks. I was looking to put on either the super swamper thornbird 31x12.50x15 or the Mickey thompson baja belted 31x13.50x15. which tire do you think would...

    33's?

I just spend a little extra and get a 2 or 3 inch body lift then you'll be able to get them on. without a body or suspension lift you'll probably have to do some major trimming to your wheel wells.

changing SOHC plugs-is it just me or..

It is for sure a fun job. I just changed mine this past weekend for the first time so needless to say my hands are all cut up aswell. It was easier to change my buddies plugs on his 95 mustang then it was on my explorer.

    95 X body lift

Check out ray lobato's truck he used a 91-94 explorer body lift on his I believe he used a two inch.
  24. F

    95 X body lift

If you just wanted a body lift you can use a 91-94 explorer body lift. THe only problem you may run into is with the steering extender it may work or it may not if not you would have to replace the lower portion. YOu will probably have to fab your own bumper brackets, I heard the ones that come...

    Lift a 97 4x4 Explorer

Theres a good article in the Explorer tips or resources page about the torsion twist which will explain what it is and how it's done. Form what I heard you can get like 32's on your explorer after the lift but may have to do some trimming nothing major though. YOu should be able to keep the...
