Yeah I know the shaft is really close. I just measured my friends ranger 5.0 and his shaft is the same so I figured it would work fine cuz they are made for the 5.0 conversion in the ranger. Jed oreokid220@aol.com

I have been chattin with some of these mustang guys and I see that there is this company that makes 5.0 swap headers for them (long and short tube). Shouldn't these work for us explorer owners then insread of waiting for FMS to make them again or gettin custom ones. Here is the link...

after looking at the mustang bezel and an explorer one on ebay the mounting tabs look almost the same and knowing the way ford is they might actually be. EXPO - you gotta be the gunnie pig for this. because if it is exact swap that would be awesome Jed oreokid220@aol.com

For in the ford family, check out the aftermarket ford mustang panel from autometer. Full plug and play for the mustang including tach, speedo, fuel, oil, and water. I am pretty sure that you could probably splice some wires and be good to go. www.autometer.com and do a prduct search...

The cab is higher, but you will hear from everyone that has done this that the dash will hit ones shins because it is shapped different. Just some words from people that have been there. Jed oreokid220@aol.com

The biggest problem is for the 1991 - 1994 years and their A/C control that is done with levers, all the later models are electric. Also the mustang dash will take away alot of room for your legs. The mustang seats are lower so the dash is also lower, ulike our truck seats that sit higher...
