    squeeky belts

Well it turned out that the new tensioner wasn't any good. It applied "some" pressure for a while, but it eventually got to where the belt was loose. I was watching it and saw that there was a little wobble in the belt. When I touched the handle of a screwdriver to it the noise went away. I got...

No problem guys! I'm glad there are people here that participate as much as they do on this forum.

Can you use a torque wrench to move the tensioner and remove the belt? This would tell you how much pressure it takes to move it. If I could get a few others to do the same, we could take an average and then possible know if the spring in the tensioner is applying the correct amount of pressure...

    A/C oil recharge required?

Please don't take this the wrong way, but can we get back to the question at hand? I know I started all of this by referring to it as freon, but I'm still hoping someone can help me in determining how much oil I need to add...thanks.!

    squeeky belts

Mine is doing the same thing. I too thought it was the idler and that the problem didn't show up until the new tensioner placed too much load on the old idler. well, that was the wrong guess, as a new one didn't help the cold start squeeks. I had my wife start the truck for me and it sounded...

    A/C oil recharge required?

I have a leak in my 97 Explorer's A/C system. Since I haven't found it yet, I keep having to add freon. My question is, if I'm losing the R134a, then aren't I also losing the oil? And if so, how do I know how much I need to add?

A/C High Pressure Hose is Loose!?

I was recharging the freon on my '97 SOHC when I noticed that the aluminum high pressure hose that "pushes into" a bracket attached to the A/C radiator was loose. When I tried to push on the quick connector for the guage, the whole hose slid down. I had to hold it at the "T" to be able to apply...

    Air Conditioner Motor

The compressor cycles because it's low on freon. There's a sensor to tell the compressor to turn off if the freon is low so it won't burn out the compressor. I have a slow leak in mine and that's my signal that I need to refill it. I really need to get it down to the shop and see where the leak...

Stock rear controls controlling aftermarket head unit

Anyone know of any aftermarket head units that the rear controls can still manage? My changer died and I was thinking of replacing the head unit but I want to retain the functionality of the rear controls on the back of the center console...

    Radio displays "no cd"

This isn't what I was hoping to hear, since I just received it as an EBay purchase! Anyone else? No offense, but I really don't want to deal with sending it back...

    Radio displays "no cd"

When I turn the switch on, the CD changer goes through all of the CDs in the cartridge. During this time the radio display shows which CD it's loading (ie. 03 01). Once it finishes identifying the CDs in the cartridge, the radio displays the message "NO CD", and I can't play any of the CDs. I...
