I'm going to try out the factory manifold first there's less; time, money, materials, cost.....to build these. I have welded cast to steel a few times before and they have held up. There is no point in dumping $$$$$ into a old ford explorer. if i wanted to build flanges anyways I have plenty off...

Im getting close to building the new hotside. It simplifys alot of things and makes it easy to build.

There is no need for forged internals on a 4.0 ohv. Flipped manifold is what i did on my first turbo build works great. Im making some changes now.

have you looked intop the Moates Quarterhorse. You cna tune in real time with the QH and the hardware isnt all that expensive. Did you ditch the pcv tubing yet that could be bad news if you were driving along and the tube snapped and went to wot and sent you sideways into whatever is nearby.

I cut out the flange myself and the motor is completely stock.

A m90 can be bolted to an ohv with an adapter plate and or a turbo can go just about anywhere you can fit it. My setup still needs a little cash thrown at it as I really need to ditch the fmu and go with a Megasquirt or some tuning software like Moates. An I really need a intercooler

A turbo will be cheaper/easier and the 4.0 ohv holds up well to boost. There have been alot of turbo and blown 4.0 ohvs around. I have designed a hotside to bolt a T3 turbo to the ohv and work is underway.

well after a few weeks of tinkering with the fmu ive got it to run stronger. pulls good and dosen't rattle. Still needs an intercooler and a wideband to make further adjustments. No I laid down roughly 75ft lbs and 40 hp on 5 lbs. I also only spent 150$ on parts. No tune no intercooler just fmu now. I never was after big power as you noticed my truck is a 4x4. I have other turbo cars in the works if they ever get done lol

there are alot of shops down south. let me do some research. What kind of budget are you after. Have you done any kind of fabrication yourself? If your willing to do the wrenching and lots of learning and you can operate a sawzall and a welder enough to tack pipes together its possible to build...

if you want it done correctly its going to cost at least 1000$ in parts not to include labor. If you mention your area i can point you in the right direction as there are shops alll over that can do this.

There is a guy here using a GN turbo on his 4.0 and he has pushed it to 18lbs of boost reliably. There is plenty of room on an exploder to route a crossover pipe.

boosting the 4.0 ohv is fun they are quite strong and hold up well. As for turbo sizing you may want to map out the compressor maps by using a turbo calculator. Your truck is a EEC V so you have SCT/Tweecer/sniper/moates to choose from when it comes down to tuning. A larger pump and injectors...

On a budget forced induction will net you the most power increase per dollar spent. Building NA horsepower with a 4.0 ohv costs alot of money and the gain usually can be had for cheaper with forced induction. The 4.0 ohv is a strong motor. Add some boost and tune it and have fun.

I'm not going to be pushing major boost yet. i do have an Vortec super adjustable fmu now to control fuel pressure. Eventually I would like to run about 15-18psi but some tuning equiptment is needed first. I will be at a dyno meet this weekend but my pockets are lighter than they should be so...

Well I finished the slight modification to the hotside. I ran the outlet of the first turbine back into the hotside downstream of the next turbo. So basically 3cyls are spooling the low pressure turbo and all cyls are spooling the high pressure turbo. It seems to be working so far. i still have...
