Yes, the intercooler box, I'll like building that. My engine will not be as nice as with the big supercharger mounted in the middle, I've let go of that idea.

Alright Don, it has been too long then since I heard what your latest plans are - so, what are you thinking?

Yes Todd, both of us. I'm still planning the same intake and intercooler, a TFS "R" lower with an intercooler directly above it.

When I get to doing headers, that's when I will decide if there is room for another pipe to run from under the truck. A turbo is obviously better, if I can get an air filter under the hood and piped to a rear mounted turbo, that's my 1st choice. If there isn't room under the AC box to run two extra pipes that way, I'll mount the KB 2200.

I've learned a few big things from the SBFtech(http://sbftech.com/index.php) forum, unrelated to this turbo/boost stuff. Over there they deal with promoting great heads, custom cams, big big intake/exhaust parts, and proving the little stuff is bad. I like that, go for the fastest parts and ignore the dyno numbers and myths.

Todd, did you finish your left header? Did you reconcile the merging of the collector and the driveshaft, and the fuel/brake lines? Regards,

Yes, finished a long time ago and sent off / returned for jet hot coating. I cleared the factors position of steering column, motor mounts, and driveshaft, but had to blow away the fuel / brake lines. Those will be custom if I ever get back to working on the truck. It will be on moth balls for another 1.5-2 years now, as I have major home and work projects that will take all of my time until March 2011 :(

Heck, no time to even put the 302 in to get it running!

Oh well...

That is good, and yet very good. Take care of the family first over all else.

I'm not doing well to get my truck painted this season. but if I can get my engine in before Spring I'll ask to hear more about how the header turned out there. I have thought of running the fuel/brake lines in the frame and out the top, but that's a big job too.

When you made the right header, did you imagine running any other 3" pipes through along side it?

we moved my brother alternator to the driver side of the truck. if it was up to me i would put a hot rod ac compressor back on the passenger side and run one of those vintage hot ac kits that is smaller the the explorer box. that would leave a bunch of room on the passenger side of the truck for a turbo or any thing else you want to run. heck even with a supercharger it would clear up a bunch of room and make things nicer to work on. it is just nice to work in a engine bay where things are not cluttered up.

That's an idea, but the section outside is really just the evaporator housing. There's no wiring or blower motor there like the 1st gen trucks. I like those headers you have for your brother's truck, there is some room down and forward there.

Nice build want to see how this turns out:thumbsup:

i have to finish the wastegate and get every thing coated and then it will be done. my brother decided to mess up a flange which makes it a problem to finish because i have to call turbo smart to get a new one.

So how's the project going? Ready to tear it up this spring and hurt some egos:D

i just ordered some parts in that my brother lost, we managed to loose half of the vband clamps for the truck some how. i hope to get it going soon, we talked for a while last night about it on our way to quote a twin turbo kit car cobra build.

Subscribing. Cant wait to see it.

Question, have you worked with both the nice V-band clamps and the wide strap clamps in many places? I'm pondering if the band clamps are not better for most of the rear exhaust system. It isn't really the cost, but for me which is better long term for removing etc?

wow nice set up makes mine look like **** oh well i still like mine in the rear can pop hood and nobody sees anything but a charge pipe well gl with your build

there are a lot of different ways to turbo charge the truck and each setup has its own pro's and con's. i have done a lot of different setups on a lot of different things.

i like the vband clamps with male female setups it allows for a nice connections. the big clamp style ones are great for slip joints and stuff that needs to move some. also vbands are great for breaking up sections of pipes for ease of fitment but like i said they don't have any give where a ball and socket and slip type with big clamp have that advantage.

Thanks for the thoughts, I'd concluded that also. I'll mix the two in my cars.

not saying nothing against your build just stated i like mine as a rear mount set up over a front mount geeezzzzz dont be so sensitive:p:

i was not saying any thing about rear mount or front mount turbos being better or not. i just stated that on this project we went front mount. i did a rear mount turbo dodge dart not long ago, it worked out great.
