    get your own SPL meter

In order to go up to 165, you will need to get a quality one, the radio shack and wal-mart ones will barely reach 130 accurately. I wouldn't spend my money on either one, like I said, they do not go high enough to be worth while for car audio.

    get your own SPL meter

those cheap SPL meters are pointless, if you have enough bass to rattle your mirror, most likely you will top those meters out. I have metered a stock radio and got in the high 120s. I had a high dollar accurate meter that went to 162 Db with my last show vehicle...

3rd gen original wheel offset versus what you have now?

a 285/50/20 will be about 1" bigger than stock and wider, so I wouldn't do it. I went with the 275/45/20 which is the exact size of stock (1/2" wider though), then you wont have to worry about a thing.

    Check out my Mountaineer now!

    so lost...22x9.5 wheel...tire

I agree about the wheels make a difference on the weight, here is the 22s I had and also the 35s I had, that way you can see the different wheels and such on how they weigh, but generally speaking a 22 will probably weigh too much for the front end of a stock Explorer, but you could do some...

    so lost...22x9.5 wheel...tire

Well I have had 35s and I have had chrome 22s, and the 22s are ALOT heavier than the 35s were. Think about it, the metal weighs ALOT more than a hollow rubber tire. I would say that my 22s were about 20-30 pounds heavier per wheel than my STS all terain 35x12.50x16 with chrome wheels.

    so lost...22x9.5 wheel...tire

Don't do it, anything bigger than a 20 on an explorer looks too big and will wear out your front end WAY before it should, especially on an older model. I had 22 on my 02 F150 and they wore the front end out within 4 months and would have cost me about $1000 to fix, so I got rid of the 22s and...

Same fuse box, if you want to be certain, you can take your cover off and go to a Ford Dealership and compare it to a Mustang they have.

apperance mods for the gen 3 Explorer/Mountaineer?

Go to http://www.macperformance.com and look under the 05 Ford Mustang dress-up kit, they have a fuse block cover that fits the 4.0L engine. That is what I am getting along with all the custom billet caps.

apperance mods for the gen 3 Explorer/Mountaineer?

Caps would be for every cap under the hood as well as a couple inside the truck (turn signal, shifter, radio knob, power mirror knob).

apperance mods for the gen 3 Explorer/Mountaineer?

So would anybody be interested in a billet aluminum cap set for the Explorers/Mountaineers? I know that nobody else makes a kit, so it would make it a very few people that would have billet on them.

apperance mods for the gen 3 Explorer/Mountaineer?

Well my brother-in-law and I measured alot of stuff in my truck. He is a machinist and will make some custom billet accent caps for the interior/underhood areas. I will let you all know how they turn out and if he would be willing to make any for others as well (but if he did it wouldn't be...

    Exhaust performance gains??

I have the MAC Performance cat-back system on mine and it made a nice difference on the sound and a little performance, gave it more of a truck sound. I also added the MAC Performance air induction at the same time as well though.
