those cheap SPL meters are pointless, if you have enough bass to rattle your mirror, most likely you will top those meters out. I have metered a stock radio and got in the high 120s. I had a high dollar accurate meter that went to 162 Db with my last show vehicle http://www.gold-line.com/spl120.htm
If you are going to buy a meter, get that one, then you can hang out with people and truly see whos is louder, lol.
Looks like RS updated thiers. This new one I don't know. However the older one I have is recommended by many audiofiles, & home theater people. It's very accurate. It's analog also.
HAHAHAH!!!!!! that was great!
how many decibles can it read up to? 135 like the wal-mart meter? i need something that will read up to 165 at least (so i can test in port too). haha that wal mart meter would explode in my truck.

In order to go up to 165, you will need to get a quality one, the radio shack and wal-mart ones will barely reach 130 accurately. I wouldn't spend my money on either one, like I said, they do not go high enough to be worth while for car audio.
