    1994 A4LD troubles

My tranny will not downshift from 2 to 1 when coming down from 3, so I will be driving along, in 3rd gear, downshifts to 2nd, come to a stop, but does not shift into 1 unless I manually put it in 1. What can be causing this? its REALLY starting to get annoying. Thanks in advance for any guidance...

    rebuilt A4LD problems.. GRR

I just put a freshly rebuilt A4LD in my truck 2 weeks ago, now im starting to have problems with it. I've put about 500 miles on it since installation, and it has been a mushy- not solid shifting, slippy kinda tranny since I put it it. I went out deer hunting today and put about 50 trail miles...

    A4LD front pump seal

Put a new tranny in last weekend and the front pump seal is leaking. I think I buggered it up when I put the torque converter back in. Anywho- I'm going to pull it out again because its driving me nuts dripping qaurter sized puddles every night. There's some little punch marks in the aluminum...

    Ticking from rebuilt long block.

I put a rebuilt motor from PRO-Formance powertrain products in my Ex about 2 months ago. I've only put about 200 miles on it since then... It's got a LOT of noise coming from the motor. I think it may be the valves making the clatter. I've got plenty of oil pressure and did install a new oil...

So when i pulled my motor out to replace it with a new one i had all sorts of stuff unplugged hangin out all over the place. i didnt label any of them because i usually dont have a problem putting wires / hoses back where they belong. except for one stupid wire on the AC wiring harness...

Anyone know how to test a wiper motor?

Hook a power wire to it and see what happens. It won't shock you unless your using your tounge or something to hold it on there, you should be fine.. Speaking of that, mines also burnt up been meaning to replace that haha..

    Transmission removal

The 4 bolts for your torque converter are only accesable through the hole where your starter bolts up to... You might need a helper to hold a big socket on the crankshaft to keep the motor from turning over. You might need to take the spark plugs out to turn the motor over to get to the other bolts.

My new engine has an obnoxious knock

Well it SAYS I have enough oil pressure, but can it give a false reading if the pump wasn't primed??

My new engine has an obnoxious knock

I have less than 50 miles on this motor since I've put it in. (Rebuilt from pro-formance) I used 10w30 oil and filled the oil filter with oil before starting... I did not "prime" the oil pump and don't even know what that does. It sounds a lot like a motor would if its low on oil..

    Found a used Motor, but........??

Best to get a master gasket set when you get a used motor because then you have a chance to look at everything in the motor. You replace the oil pump because you cannot clean them out and its good to get any contamination outta there. Should replace the thermostat and water pump too. The price...

    Transmission removal

15 mm is the correct size socket for your exaust... It is unlikely that you will be able to remove them without an impact wrench though. If you stripped the bolt, then you will have to hammer on either a 12 point 14mm or 9/16ths socket. I took mine off last week with a 1/2 inch impact gun, 20...

I got a rebuilt long block from pro-formance on friday and put it in my truck this weekend... I started it up and it runs VERY rough, surging from 800 rpm to 3500... What could be causing this? I'm going back tomorrow to work on it some more and don't know where to start other than making sure I...

    Really Dumb Lift Question!!

if you have side skirts on your vehicle (plastic things under the doors that kinda look like a step) then you cant really tell youve got a body lift. 90% of the general population dosent know what a body lift looks like anyway.. it takes a gearhead to pick one out. its also WAY cheaper than a...
