    Thanks for the responses. Both remotes work fine, and lock/unlock the car on demand. It's just the drivers door which occasionally will not lock. Unlocking/locking a few times will normally get it locked though. No, the key will not turn at all when the door is open or closed. I wonder...

    On my '99 Explorer the wind (and a bit of water) goes right through the passenger door seal. I can't see any obvious defects in either the seal or the way the door meets it, so if anyone has any recommendations on where to start looking, I'd be grateful. Until then, I'll continue searching...
