I took possession of my first Ford Explorer yesterday, and found this site last night while looking up some possible fixes for a few of the niggles.
Very, very happy with it so far, and the family love it too!
It's a 1999 T reg, with 93K miles. Perfectly drive-able, with only a few problems:
You can lock the drivers door from the inside, and it will unlock with the keyfob, but it will only sometimes lock with the keyfob. The alarm/immobiliser and all other locks work fine.

- No display on the stereo (7000 RDS) (but it still plays)
- Power aerial will go up, but not down
- Third-party parking sensors are overly sensitive
- Finally the only real problem - the drivers door lock is temperamental
