I've been back and forth to my 2002 2-door Sport about three times to search different locations. I tried the jack compartment in the rear driver side and looked forward in that cavity to the seat belt assembly ... I can't see or feel anything other than the tensioner. I've checked all the doors and hood for stickers that may have the 5 digits ... nope. I tried looking in the engine compartment at the firewall near the passenger airbags ... no numbers jump out at me. Where, oh where, can my little code be?

My son, who left me this car before he went off to Hong Kong neglected to tell me the code ... now that he doesn't see the keypad in front of him, he can't remember which buttons he pushed --- the numbers he's suggested don't work. Eek ... I should have raised pigs!

Welcome !!!

Same place it is on a 2002 Sport Trac, behind the passenger air bag.

A link with photos....by me

Air bag removal method

Keep in mind when looking for info on your 2002 Sport that it is quite a bit more comparable to the 2001-2005 Sport Trac than it is to the regular Explorer. Anything, just about that applies to the '01-'05 Sport Trac will apply to your Sport.

OMG, I found it!!! Luckily I noticed the word FORWARD on a sticker when I was exploring earlier, so your photos made it clear that was the right place. I had to WINDEX the windshield and my eyeglasses and use the superduper pro flashlight but the number was there ... just on the edge of human visibility. Now to find a place to etch it where I'll never forget it!

Now that you have IT you can program your own easy to remember code into it.

Keyless Entry Keypad Code Programming
Enter the permanent factory keyless entry keypad code.
Press the 1/2 button within five seconds to activate the programming mode. Holding the 1/2 button for more than two seconds after activation will erase the stored customer code. The door locks will lock, then unlock, confirming the code is erased. The existing code will not need to be erased to program new a code.
Within five seconds, enter the new five-digit keyless entry keypad code. The door locks will lock and unlock to confirm the new code is programmed.
