2000 Explorer Limited
Good Morning, Recently got a 2000 Explorer limited and have been fixing up the small details. Latest issue is the memory seat switch does not seem to funtion. The seat is working in all directions and I recently picked up and programed a new wireless remote. When you hit the remote to unlock the truck, the driver seat goes to position one. Problem is thats not where we want it. We readjust and attempt to reset the memory location but no reaction. The vehicle is in park and running(or not). Had the door panel off to replace the lock actuator and all the wiring looks good(haven't pointed it out yet). Anyone have any thoughts on the cause or where I could get a new switch?

Thanks
Scott

Welcome Scott, I would suspect the memory seat module itself, under the seat. It has a fuse in it also, check that first.

There are two power wires to the seat and module. Since the seat does function, it has the main power. If it will move in six directions, then the motors are fine, or swapped for a non-memory seat motor set. The Limited motor set has an extra wiring connector going into the motors(two connectors instead of one).

If the fuse seems to be good, I'd try to test the other module power wire, which I think is light green and yellow striped. It should be powered full time also IIRC, just like the big power wire. The only other wire that could cause an issue is the wire to the GEM module. That tiny wire(red/black IIRC) tells the module when the vehicle is in Park or Neutral. In any other gear the memory seat function is disabled.

Thanks for the info. I'll check it ou this weekend and let you know what I find.

Scott
