'00 Ranger XLT
Hello all. Truck is still driveable, but does anybody have a quick list of items that should be replaced as routine "preventive maintenance" at 140K miles in the fron suspesion of a 2000 Ranger XLT 2-wheel drive? It starting to make some noise & it feels tired. Thanks for any input.

Hey, welcome to the forum.

You might start by putting on new shocks if you haven't already. You could also put new sway bar bushings in.

I second the swaybar bushings, and an alignment probably wouldn't be a bad idea either. Beyond that, I'd check everything for wear (ball joints, tie rod ends, wheel bearings, etc.), and replace anything that needed it.

I believe the front wheel bearings are sealed bearing and will require to replace the entire hub assembly. I got mine at Pepboys for around $69 each come with ABS sensor pre-install along with TIMKEN bearing.

interesting...my front wheel bearings are loose (as in not sealed). must be a 4x4 thing.

I have seen 2 wheel drive uses the similar wheel bearings as 4wd model. Personally, I rather have the loose bearings. Its easier to replace, replace and cheapter too!
