Hey just wondering if a tailgate from a 2000 would fit on a 1997.

I've seen people put '97 front bumpers on '00's

Thanks.

Yes, but you to switch out the tail lights too.

Well I currently own the 2000 now, going to buy the '97 V8 tomorrow. So I have all the parts, if it's possible you just made my night :)

Tailgate, rear bumper, wiring, and tail lights will need to be switched.

If your 1997 has the "bronzish-silver" privacy glass, the rear glass will no longer match as well.

The 97 has a rear wiper that actually works good. The 2000 not so much.

Off-topic but does anyone know if I could swap the ARC system from the '97 and put it in the '00 which currently has gas shocks? Or would the '00 be missing certain connectors/wires since it didn't come with it from factory?

I did a search but could only find threads about removing ARC from an Ex, not adding it to one.

Thanks

Most people are just the opposite and ditch the ARC for regular shocks. The ARC stuff is expensive to replace when it goes bad.

IMO it would be more work than it's worth to convert the 2000 to ARC.

Well my current situation is this, the '00 is my daily driver, it has a great set of leaves and I just replaced all four shocks a month ago. Well tomorrow I'm buying a '97 AWD V8 limited with ARC, I don't want the ARC. So if I could take the leafs and new shocks from the '00 and put the ARC in I'd be a very happy person.

I would never ditch good leaf springs and new shocks for a soon to be 15 year old ARC system... No way...

lol no, I'm keeping the V8 '97 to drive, and I don't want the ARC in it, wondering if the ARC will go into the '00 V6 XLT so i can sell it. And swap the good leafs and shocks into the '97.

Just get some cheap shocks and put them in the 2000 after you swap your springs and shocks. Putting the ARC in will require way more time than it's worth.

Alright I'll take your word for it. Thanks

BTW it being a '97 how do I tell which heads are on it? I read the early '97's had the GT-40's while the later 97's had the GT-40P's.

The easiest way to tell is if it has an external EGR. If it has an external EGR then it has the "P" heads. It is on the right side of the engine. You will the the EGR tube coming up from the exhaust manifold.

Thanks Dan.

But another question has come up, I want to put the Flowmaster 40 series on my truck, but I've noticed while looking around, the muffler (Flowmaster) is single in and single out. How to you work around that? Is there some kind of Y pipe for the dual in single out?

Thanks again

Also now a proud owner of a '97 V8, '00 V6 XLT going up for sale tomorrow. Next summer should have the BW 4406 :)

btw- duel = dual in Canadiatalk.

Kind of like Colour.

HERE- I'm not making this up, the Government has it's own page about this phenomenon... :D

Still can't find a Flowmaster 40 dual in single out.
