In the middle of replacing the chain tensioners (bought the whole kit because it was cheaper than buying the individual tensioners). Got sidetracked by having to replace the thermostat housing.....at least it makes the front tensioner easier to get to. After removing the front tensioner I pulled the plug next to it and can see the end of that plastic rod down inside (must be a drain restrictor or something like that). Also, the front tensioner looks identical to the one in the kit.
Question - Since the engine appears to have had the 00M12 kit installed in the past is there any point in replacing that plastic rod? I have no idea of how to get the old out.
