I recently picked up a 2001 Eddie Bauer that has the premium sound system (in dash single CD & cassette, rear sub). Unfortunately it did not have the 6 CD changer in the armrest console like my now-deceased '99 had. I would like to add the changer if not too much of a hassle. The HU display does show CDDJ (changer) when cycling through the modes. My assumption was that the wiring harness to connect the changer would already be below the armrest since I doubted that Ford would have built 2 different harness assemblies for those few trucks ordered without the changer. Apparently I was wrong because when I removed the little tissue holder and looked in the area below, I saw the harness running back to the rear audio controls but nothing crossing over to connect to a changer as there is on my son's '96 which does have a changer.
Do any of you have specific information on the 2001 models? Is the harness somewhere else and I'm just missing it or is there a totally different harness to deal with?
If I can't add one easily and I find I really miss the changer, how easy is it now to find a new HU with changer that will work with the factory sub and the steering wheel audio controls?
