have an 01 4L sohc. the other day when i turned on my lights , the dash lights did not come on, turning the switch on and off 4 or 5 times they came on, hasen't happened since.(problem 1)
Problem 2 is while I was driving home this weekend, My O/D off light started to blink. when I stopped and turned the trk off to get something to eat, I started it back up, and the light stayed off like always, then after 20 or so miles it started to blink again. can not find anything in the owners manual or on the code scanner, Any Ideas?

Just a thought.... you might get better information from a more sophisticated scanner.... maybe try a transmission shop or your Ford Dealer.

(Although I would almost never pay expensive dealer charges for repairs, the dealer diagnosis can be helpful when things get really technical.)

Good luck.

You have a transmission problem. That's why the O/D light is blinking. A good scanner can give you more info as to what's wrong.

+1 Koda and Alligator, get the codes read. Often it is the torque converter clutch system failing. YMMV

That is correct. Occasionally I get the blinking OD light on mine. The computer detects something abnormal in the transmission.
I had the same on my F-250 which has the E4OH-NO trans, but the light never stopped blinking and the shifts became erratic. It was the torque converter.

Also the servo pistons are notorious for causing the OD to pop out under load in these things when the mileage gets up there. It starts out as a flash and then comes on more and more until it will no longer shift into overdrive.

That seems to be what is happening with mine, as I said it doesn't happen very often. Always seems to happen under load and it does lock out the OD.
Thanks!

Thanks for the link, I saved it for future reference.
