Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the group and have a few questions. Background Info: I recently purchased a used 2001 Explorer Sport 2WD/2DR with an AM/FM/Cass/Single CD unit in it. I have no sound installation experience and decided to upgrade to a JVC KS-FX490 radio/cass receiver and the JVC CH-X1500RF 12 disc cd changer. This was after much research & monetary limits set
Anyhow ... I have now come upon the following questions/dilemmas and are hoping some of you could take pity on me
and help me out with possible answers/solutions.
Where to install the disc changer and have it accesible?
Best & cost effective sound proofing material? How much difference does sound proofing make?
Use stock speakers or replace? If replace, what are good choices?
Is an amp & subwoofer going to be necessary? If so, where should they be placed and not lose cargo space, or at least as little as possible?
After all this, I'm sure you are asking why I don't have this professionally installed. Simple really, I live in Chicago and everywhere I have checked they wanted and arm & leg and also tried to get me to purchase additional equipment. They see me(female) walking through their doors or hear me talking on the phone and it's like they see dollar bills and easy mark.
Thanks for looking and I will greatly appreciate any help here.
