I Have An 02 Explorer Sport With The Audiophile Upgrade Which Has The Factory Sub In The Rear Passenger Side Of The Trunk. I Was Wondering What Size Sub It Is And Also Where Is The Amp If There Is One. Secondly What Size Are The Factory Speakers And How Many Are There? I Was Thinking About Removing The 6cd Changer And Installing A Different Headunit B/c I Have 2 12 In Subs In The Truck And Ive Been Told It Will Sound Better With A Different Headunit. Is This True? Lastly, Would Any Other Sub Fit Where The Factory Sub Is Now? Thanks A Lot

I am not positive, but I want to say the subwoofer is an 8 in sub. The amplifier should be behind the passenger side rear quarter panel, next to the subwoofer. The factory speakers are 5x7 which 6x8 will also fit. If you have two 12's already...There is no need to upgrade or even use the stock subwoofer. If you have a stock head unit, then that means that someone tapped into the existing wires which in turn does lose a little sound quality. So your question is will it sound better with an aftermarket head unit. My answer is yes.
