01 expo 5.0 83 bronco c6

Whats up guys. I frequent the first gen forum often, done a lot of expo work but never with a 302.

I'm trying to put a c6 behind my 01 5.0. Getting a lot of conflicting info on if it will work. Some are saying the motor changed 98+ and the older trans wont bolt up. Any info would be awesome. Ive searched for hours.

5.0 (302) is a 5.0 (302) from 1969 -2001 same bellhousing

A c6 will bolt up as long as it came from a SBF

You will need a tune to remove the trans functions from the stock explorer 5.0 computer, or the truck will not run correctly as it is expecting many inputs from the auto trans.

Ahhhhhh I understand now. I'm thinking your trying to put a c6 in an 01 explorer .

i believe the earlier post is correct the engine stayed the same but mid 90s they did change the way the engine ran but not the engine itself. more electronics and a different firing order or some such thing. think it was something like that i cant remember exactly was a long time but prior to 95 i was a pure ford guy 1979 f150, 1986 f250, 94 f150. after 95 im at a bit of a loss.

Thanks for the info guys, any and all is much appreciated! After more thinking, plan is to use the 5.0 from a 95 F1 and it's harness/computer. Still planning on the c6 and manual t case.
