01 Ranger T-Case clunk

Hey guys, ive got a 01 ranger with a electric t-case. When ever i put it in 4x4 it clunks, the front tires work but itll just clunk. It did this before and i just put in a used t-case. But since the new ones doing it to i would like to figure out what parts i may need so i can just replace them. Ive taken the old t-case apart and cant find anything wrong with it except for maybe a loose chain, but then i cant find where it would have been slipping on the teeth or hitting the case anywhere. Im hopin this is a common problem, and maybe one you guys, or gals. Would know anything. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to this forum! Are you going into 4X4 correctly? Check the sticky threads on the top of the transmission section for more information.

ya i know its going in. I was just out crawling on some hills and it just started, and the more i play the worse it gets. so i for sure thought i would be able to find somthin, but nothing i can see.

I don't know if that's what he means but our 96ex does that when its cold but when the drivetrain is warmed up it don't do it.
